Floor covering made of pentagonal, jointed concrete blocks

Floor coverings made of polygonal concrete blocks with joints are known in various designs. These blocks usually have a regular shape, which allows the individual blocks to be placed next to one another in any way. Such a floor covering is often required to allow surface water to seep through the joints into the subsoil. To facilitate the drainage of surface water, the blocks should not touch one another on their sides, but should be spaced apart to form joints. The disadvantage of such blocks is that they have a regular shape, which means that the appearance of the floor covering is boring, in contrast to a floor covering made of irregular rubble stones.

The invention is based on the object of creating a floor covering made of polygonal shaped concrete blocks which, on the one hand, can be easily laid and, on the other hand, has a lively, irregular broken slab-like appearance.

This task is solved with a floor covering made of pentagonal concrete blocks that are adjacent to one another with joints, each of which has two adjacent straight sides of equal length arranged at an obtuse angle, two adjoining concave sides of equal length with the same curvature and an intermediate convex side that is twice the length of a concave side and has a curvature that corresponds to the curvature of the concave sides, and which form groups of three with star-shaped joints between the abutting straight sides, with the outer convex sides of one group of three abutting against the concave sides of the neighboring groups of three and vice versa.

Although the shaped stones of such a floor covering all have the same shape, which simplifies their manufacture and installation, the different shapes and lengths of the sides result in an appearance of the floor covering that at first glance appears completely irregular and is similar to the appearance of a floor covering made of irregular rubble stones (rubble slabs).

A floor covering with these shaped stones is also suitable for effectively draining surface water, especially if, according to one embodiment of the invention, the sides of each shaped stone have lugs as joint-forming spacers along part of their length and height. With this embodiment of the invention, not every side needs to have spacers - it is sufficient if one of the adjacent sides of two shaped stones has a spacer. However, it is easier for production and installation if all sides have such spacers, which then work together in pairs. In any case, these spacers ensure a sufficiently wide

Joint is achieved during installation. These spacers, which are only located at part of the height of the shaped stones, should be completely missing in the upper area in order to create a continuous joint here.

The concrete molded block shown in an enlarged view in Figure 1 has a symmetrical shape with respect to the line M. It has two straight sides 1,2 that enclose an obtuse angle, two concave sides 3,4 that adjoin these straight sides 1,2 and a convex side 5 in between, the length of which is equal to half the length of each of the concave sides 3,4 and the curvature of which corresponds to the curvature of the concave sides 3,4. On each of the sides 1-5, cams 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, 3a, 4a, 5a, 5b are formed as joint-forming spacers, which extend only over part of the length of the corresponding sides 1-5 and practically over the entire height of the sides 1-5. determine the width of the joints 6 between the shaped blocks using appropriate spacers on adjacent shaped blocks. These joints 6 serve to absorb sand or other granular material and to drain surface water into the subsoil.

As Figure 1 shows, the shaped blocks are laid in such a way that three shaped blocks F ₁₁ F ₂ JF ₃ lie next to one another with their straight sides 1,2 and form a group of three, forming star-shaped joints. The outer sides of this group of three are alternately convex and concave, with all sides being the same length. Six similar groups of three are laid around such a group of three, with convex and concave sides interlocking. This type of laying ensures that only three joints meet at each interface. This benefits the permanent positioning of the shaped blocks during operation.

Floor covering made of pentagonal shaped concrete blocks (F ₁₇ F ₂ (F ₃ ) which are adjacent to one another with joints, each of which has two adjacent straight sides (1,2) of equal length arranged at an obtuse angle, two adjoining concave sides (3,4) of equal length with the same curvature and an intermediate convex side (5) which is twice the length of the concave sides (3,4) and has a curvature which corresponds to the curvature of the concave sides, and which form groups of three with star-shaped joints (6) formed between the abutting straight sides (1,2), the outer convex sides (5) of one group of three abutting the concave sides (3,4) of the adjacent groups of three and vice versa. 2. Floor covering according to claim 1, characterized in that the sides (1-5) of each shaped block (F ₁ -F ₃ ) serve as joint-forming spacers (la,Ib,2a,2b,3a,4a,5a,5b) have cams on part of their length and height. 3.
