The invention relates to a packaged tobacco portion for the self-production of smokable products such as cigarettes

A wide variety of methods are known for the self-production of smokable products such as cigarettes, such as (a) rolling cigarettes yourself with cigarette paper sheets by hand and with devices, (b) stuffing cigarette paper tubes yourself with stuffing devices, (c) stuffing cigarette paper tubes yourself using a tobacco rod contained in an auxiliary packaging, which is pushed into the cigarette paper tube by means of an ejector slide, and (d) pushing tobacco cartridges or cigarettes into a filter cigarette paper tube by hand, where the tobacco cartridges or cigarettes are surrounded by a wrapper made of completely smokable material, but which is so permeable to air that the cigarette itself cannot be smoked, but can only be consumed by smoking after putting it in a cigarette paper tube.

For the first two methods, the cut tobacco, usually fine cut, is sold either in tin cans or in so-called plastic pouches, in which a weighed amount of, for example, 15, 30, 50 or 100 grams or more is packaged. The disadvantage of this packaging is that tin cans are expensive and, like plastic bags, pollute the environment when disposed of. Furthermore, the precise portioning of the amount of tobacco in the packaging plant is associated with difficulties; as a rule, a certain amount of tobacco is automatically filled with, for example, 5% underweight, after which the prescribed amount is slowly added in another station until the required final weight is reached. Another disadvantage of packaging in tins or plastic bags is that after regular removal of individual portions, when around 90% of the tobacco has been used, only very crumbly tobacco and fine particles are left in the packaging and separation can even occur, so that the desired initial mixture is no longer available to the consumer.

The invention has set itself the task of proposing a packaged tobacco portion which contains a smoker's daily ration of self-rolled or self-filled cigarettes, furthermore the desired amount of tobacco can be set precisely and in one step, environmental problems can be avoided and the branding, which is extremely cumbersome in plastic bags, for example, by inserting a correspondingly printed sheet, can be carried out in a simple manner.

either on the wrapper itself or on a cardboard box containing the packaged tobacco portions.

To solve this problem, a packaged tobacco portion according to the main claim is proposed, with particularly preferred embodiments being listed in the subclaims.

The tobacco portion according to the invention is larger by a factor of at least 4 to 40 compared to conventional factory cigarettes or to the approximately 7 cm long tobacco cartridges, e.g. according to DE 41 07 027-B, which usually contain less than 1 g of tobacco, and contains at least 4 times the amount of tobacco by weight.

The packaged tobacco portions can be produced on conventional cigarette machines after appropriate conversion while maintaining the required quantity consistency.

In a preferred form of use, the packaged tobacco portion can be about 9 cm long, but can also be several times longer.

For a total weight of 10 g of cut tobacco, for example, with a length of 9 cm and a usual packing density of 0.25 g/cm ^3, the diameter of the tobacco portion is approximately 2.4 cm. With the same total weight and the same packing density,

a length of e.g. 27 cm and a diameter of the tobacco portion of about 1.4 cm.

If a larger total weight is desired for the same or similar tobacco portion formats, this can be achieved by means of a corresponding stuffing density of more than 0.25 g/cm ³ ; the reverse is also possible.

In this way, tobacco portions of various sizes can be obtained without difficulty.

The cutting width or particle size of the filled tobacco can be freely selected as desired; for example, finely cut tobacco (fine cut), standard cigarette cut or coarse cut can be used.

The wrapping can be either a porous cellulose fleece or thin cigarette paper, which do not pose any environmental problems when disposed of; the wrapping can alternatively consist of foil tobacco. In order to prevent the tobacco from crumbling, in a preferred embodiment one or both ends of the roll-like wrapping can be closed, which is made possible, for example, by twisting the wrapping that protrudes beyond the tobacco rod, or the ends of the tobacco roll are strengthened by smokable adhesives, glues or thickeners.

Claims (4)

Protection claims 1.) Packaged tobacco portion for the self-production of smoking products such as cigarettes by rolling or stuffing, characterized in that the tobacco portion consists of a tobacco rod of at least 4 to 40 g of cut tobacco with a cutting width of 0.5 to 2.5 _mm , which is surrounded by a paper-like, smokable wrapper to form a roll with a length of 9 cm or a multiple thereof and a minimum diameter of 1 cm to 3 cm. 2.) Tobacco portion according to claim 1, characterized in that the wrapping consists of a porous cellulose fleece, so that it is not smokable on its own. 3.) Tobacco portion according to claim 1, characterized in that the wrapping consists of foil tobacco and is smokable on its own. 4.) Tobacco portion according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that one or both ends of the roll-like wrapping are closed either by twisting the wrapping parts extending beyond the tobacco rod or by means of smokable adhesive, glue or compacting agents.
