This means that commercially available, conventional anoraks or weatherproof jackets are unsuitable as weather protection for alpine high-altitude hikes on a rope, especially in severe weather.

The invention aims to create such weather protection jackets which, during high mountain hikes on a rope and when severe weather suddenly occurs, such as rain, snow, wind, hail and similar adversities, allow the user to continue hiking on a rope with the greatest possible protection, ie minimal loss of body temperature, even if the adverse weather conditions occur suddenly or unexpectedly.

This problem is solved with the features listed in claim 1, since the front of the weather protection jacket according to the invention has weather protection openings incorporated horizontally on both sides of the main zipper, which can be opened and closed using a zipper or the like. At chest height, two weather protection openings extend horizontally on both sides of the main zipper.

As can be seen from Fig. 1, the weather protection jacket (1) according to the invention, which is primarily intended for alpine mountain hikers, has a front part (A). The front part (A) is provided with a central front opening, which can be closed using a front main zipper (2). The weather protection openings (3) according to the invention are incorporated in a horizontal arrangement at chest height on both sides, i.e. to the right and left of the main zipper (2). In order to accommodate different body sizes, two horizontal weather protection openings (3) were incorporated on the left and right sides of the front part (A). These weather protection openings are opened or closed by the user as required using an integrated zipper (4), a Velcro fastener or the like.

In good weather conditions, when hiking in high alpine mountains, especially when crossing glaciers, the conventional climbing harness/chest strap (5) shown in Fig. 2 is put on over a shirt or sweater. A safety loop (6) is pulled through the loops (9) of the climbing harness/chest strap (5) and knotted. The carabiner (7) of the running rope (8) is hooked into the safety loop (6). If the weather changes during the hike, such as cold wind, hail or snow, the mountain hiker will put on a conventional anorak or similar jacket for protection. However, he cannot close the jacket completely because the running rope connected to the climbing/chest harness prevents the main zipper from closing completely.

The weatherproof jacket according to the invention {1) eliminates this disadvantage by means of the weatherproof openings (3).
