Die auf den Leitungen des SCSI Kabels (1) anliegenden Signale gelangen über die Logikeinheit (2), die Inverter und Latches enthält, zu den Leuchtdioden. Von den Invertern gelangen die Signale zu den Leuchtdioden (3) der Real-Time Anzeige (Echtzeit Anzeige). Von den Latches gelangen die Signale zu den Leuchtdioden (4) der gespeicherten Anzeige. Bei Echtzeit-Anzeige werden die Signale so angezeigt, wie sie an den Leitungen des SCSI Kabels (1) anliegen. Im Normalbetrieb eines PC's werden einige Leuchtdioden ständig flackern. Bei gespeicherter Anzeige werden die anliegenden Signale gespeichert und die Leuchtdioden leuchten konstant. Somit kann man die bereits aufgetretene Signale anhand der leuchtenden Leuchtdioden ablesen.
