Description

The subject of the present innovation is a furnishing element according to the generic term of the main claim, whereby in the present description the term seat is understood to mean any type of seat with one or more seats, in particular an armchair or a bench.

Such furnishing elements have been known for a long time, whereby the footrest usually consists of an independent body, separate from the seat, which takes up a relatively large amount of space and, when not in use, represents an obstacle.

In order to remedy this disadvantage, solutions have already been developed that connect the seat and the footrest to one another using various lever systems and special seat designs, thus enabling the footrest to be at least partially concealed inside and in particular underneath the seat.

The above solutions have not proved to be entirely satisfactory, since the known lever systems are relatively complicated, both in terms of their design and connection to the seat and in terms of their operation by the user. In particular, it should be noted that with the known devices, the user must necessarily get up from the seat in order to move the footrest from a rest position to a position of use and vice versa.

The aim of the present innovation is to create a furniture element comprising a seat and a footrest, which has a connecting element for the seat with the footrest, which is simple in design, easy to assemble and easy to use and which enables.

to move the footrest from a resting position to a use position and vice versa, even if you remain seated.

A further aim of the innovation is to create a furnishing element which enables a harmonious allocation of the footrest to the seat and which, in particular, does not require any significant change in the shape of the seat in relation to conventional seats which do not have a footrest.

These and other objectives, which will become clear to the person skilled in the art below, are achieved with a furnishing element according to the characterizing part of the main claim.

The furnishing element shown in the drawing figures mentioned has a seat 1, in the example shown a bench with two seats, two footrests 2 and two connecting elements 3 for connecting the footrests 2 to the seat.

The seat 1 is a bench seat of essentially the conventional type with two side parts 4 (Figure 4) which preferably have cushions 5 in the region of their upper end, which also have the function of armrests and are dimensioned such that they also cover the footrests 2 when these are arranged in the region of the side parts (Figure 1).

The bench rests on conventional feet 6 which are connected in a conventional manner to a lower support structure 7 of the bench (Figures 2 and 6).

It should be noted that the two front feet 6 are preferably positioned so that they act as travel limiters when the footrest 2 is rotated to the front position F (Figure 2).

The connecting element 3 is a substantially L-shaped tubular structure comprising a plate 8, two arms or irregularly bent tubes 9 and a crossbar 10. The plate 8, to which two ends of the tubes 9 are attached, has in its central area two rows of four through holes 11 for passing through a conventional articulation pin (not shown) which is attached in a manner conventional to the person skilled in the art to the connecting element 3 and to a cross part 7A of the support structure 7 of the bench. It should be noted that only one of the holes 11 is used for the articulation of the connecting element 3 and that the presence of several holes makes it possible to connect one and the same element 3 to both the right and left side of the seat, both to an armchair and to a two-seat bench of the same collection.

Each of the L-shaped tubes 9 has a conventional swivel wheel 12 in the area of its bending angle and a pin 13 at the top for connecting a conventional adjusting device 14, for example actuated by gas, which is able to function as a spring and whose other end is connected to a pin 15 assigned to the support structure 16 of the footrest (Figure 7). In the area of the ends of the cross brace 10, the connecting element 3 has two conventional plates 17 for the passage of conventional articulation pins of the support structure 16 of the footrest to the element 3.

In the example shown, the support structure 16 of the footrest has the shape of a box that is open in the area of one of the base surfaces and one of the larger sides.

Thanks to the special design of the element 3 and its special connection to the support structure 16, the footrest 2 can be arranged in a rest position R (Figure 8) or in a use position O, the two positions being substantially perpendicular to each other. It should be noted that thanks to the adjustment device 14, the footrest, when in the use position, is not rigid and fixed, but preferably gives way under the weight or action of the legs.

When the footrest 12 is in the rest position R, thanks to the special design of the element 3 and its connection to the structure 7 of the bench, it can be moved into a first position D in which the footrest is substantially parallel and in contact with one of the side parts 4 of the bench (Figure 1), or into a position F in which it is offset and lies in the area of the front of the bench.

It should be noted that, in a piece of furniture in accordance with the innovation, the user can move the footrest into its various positions of use, even when remaining seated.

Finally, it should be emphasized that the embodiment described so far serves only as an example of the innovation and that numerous variants are possible, all of which are to be considered as being within the scope of the innovation, whereby, for example, the shape of the seat 1 and/or the connecting element 3 and/or the footrest could be different from that described.

Claims (11)

PROTECTION CLAIMS 1. Furniture element with at least one seat associated with a first support structure, at least one footrest associated with a second support structure and a connecting element between the seat and the footrest, characterized in that the connecting element (3) is rotatably connected to the first support structure (7) so that the footrest (2) can be rotated into a first position (D) in the area of one of the side parts (4) of the seat (1) and into a second position (F) in the area of the front of the seat. 2. Furniture element according to claim 1, characterized in that the connecting element (3) is rotatably connected to the support structure (16) of the footrest, so that the footrest (3) can be moved into a use position (0) and a rest position (R). 3. A furnishing element according to claim 2, characterized in that the rest position (R) and the use position (0) are substantially perpendicular to each other. 4. Furniture element according to claim 2, characterized in that the footrest (2) in the first position (D) is moved into the rest position (R). 5. Furnishing element according to claim 1, characterized in that the footrest (2) in the first position is essentially in contact with one of the side parts (4) of the seat. 6. Furniture element according to claim 1, characterized in that elastic devices (14) are provided to hold the footrest (2) in the position of use. 7. Fitting element according to claim 1, characterized in that the connecting element (3) is essentially L-shaped. 8. Furniture element according to claim 7, characterized in that the connecting element is provided with a plate (8) which is rotatably connected to the support structure (7) of the seat (1), a cross brace (10) which is rotatably connected to the support structure (16) of the footrest (2), and at least one connecting arm (9) for connecting the plate to the cross brace, the arm being essentially L-shaped and having a wheel (12). 9. Furniture element according to claim 7, characterized in that the plate has a plurality of through holes (11) so that the connecting element (3) can be assigned to the support frame (7) of the seat (1) both in the area of one side part and the other, and a single connecting element can be used for seats of different dimensions. 10. Furniture element according to claim 1, characterized in that in the region of the upper side of the side parts (4) of the seat (1) armrests (5) are provided, which at least partially cover the footrest (2) when it is in its first position (D). 11. Furniture element according to claim 1, characterized in that the support structure (7) of the seat has feet (6) which are able to act as travel limiters for the displacement of the footrest.
