Known reading stands with page-turning devices for books, sheet music, etc. fulfill their purpose via structurally complex page-turning devices (DE 23 20 961 C2, DE 3 3 28 480 Cl, GM 71 19 332).

In particular, reading and turning pages while lying down is hardly possible, or only possible under great circumstances, especially for sick or physically handicapped people. This applies above all to heavy books or large-format reading material (magazines, newspapers). In addition, the complex construction and weight of known reading stands with page-turning devices prevent flexible use (e.g. in hospitals), not least for cost reasons.

Technical problem

The invention specified in claim 1 is based on the problem of replacing the technically complex and impractical systems with regard to lighting and, above all, page turning by a system that is easy to handle, transportable and flexibly usable.

Means of solution

This goal is achieved by combining a standard LCD/flat screen (monochrome or color screen), as used in notebooks or laptops, with a reading stand. The stand holds the LCD screen using a suitable device and connects it to the storage medium (laptop, notebook, PC).

In Fig. 1 and 2, the flat screen (1) is shown in its holder (2). It is connected to the notebook/laptop (6) on the base plate (5) via an internal or external cable (2a) via the holder arm (3) and the stand (4). The screen pages can be turned using a cable or infrared mouse connected to the notebook. The reading material can also be accessed from a PC as a storage base using an extended screen cable.

Advantages of the new item

Read:

The reading material retrieved from the storage medium (floppy disk, hard drive, CD-ROM) can be displayed in different font sizes. The screen pages can be easily turned, ideally using a mouse, infrared remote control or touch screen. However, turning the pages is also possible using the PC keyboard.

There is no need to touch the reading material, remove it, align it, turn the pages or anything similar, nor is there any need for additional lighting.

Work:

The information (text, graphics, tables, etc.) retrieved from the storage medium (floppy disk, hard disk) can be edited in the usual way using the keyboard, mouse, etc.

The processing is not limited to the normal desk or laptop situation, but can also be done in a lying position.

in an upright position, without any strain from the device (in case of illness).

A particular advantage is that the reading material can be captured and stored as required using suitable media (scanners).

Finally, the reading stand can be used as an additional screen holder at the workplace (e.g. desk). It thus expands the range of applications for notebooks or laptops, especially those with removable LCD/flat screens.
