Description

The present invention relates to a support leg for furniture and is applicable, for example, to the manufacture of tables, stools and similar utility furniture, wherein the fastening area of the support leg body, which is preferably made of metal, interacts with the usage surface.

It has long been known to screw furniture legs to surfaces or to attach them detachably or permanently using a variety of auxiliary structures.

The disadvantage of the known supports and fastening methods is that they require tools, they take a relatively long time to attach and they are only able to follow fashion trends to a limited extent.

The invention is therefore based on the object of creating a support leg for furniture which is simple and inexpensive to manufacture, can be easily assembled and replaced and has a universal range of applications with high visual quality.

This object is achieved according to the invention by the features in the characterizing part of the main claim in conjunction with the features in the preamble.

A particular advantage of the invention is that the support leg body in the fastening area for interaction with the surface has at least one fastening part that spans the surface and at least one fastening part that reaches under the surface, whereby the support leg can be attached easily and quickly to the surface, for example a table top.

Because there is a distance between the overarching fastening part and the underlying fastening part, which is equal to or slightly less than the thickness of the usable surface, the support leg is effectively attached to the usable surface by means of a clamp connection.

A further advantage of the invention is that it enables very efficient production, since the supporting leg body in the initial state is a stamped sheet metal part which is cut along a vertical

running center line of the supporting leg body and two horizontal lines arranged one above the other at a distance according to the thickness of the usable area in the fastening area of the supporting leg body are bent by 90°.

As can be seen from Fig. 1 and Fig. 3, the support leg for furniture consists of a support leg body 1, which has a specially designed fastening area 2.

The fastening area 2 has a fastening part 4 that spans the usable surface 3 and a fastening part 5 that reaches under the usable surface 3 in order to interact with the usable surface 3, which in the present embodiment is designed as a table top. Between the spanning fastening part 4 and the reaching under fastening part 5 there is a distance 6 that is equal to or slightly less than the thickness of the table top 3. Decorative openings 7 can be arranged below the fastening area 2.

In the present embodiment, such a decorative opening 7 is arranged just below the fastening area 2 on the line 8. The corners of both the overlapping fastening part 4 and the underlying fastening part 5 can be rounded. The arrangement of the support leg bodies 1 is carried out at the table corners for tables of conventional size. However, it is also possible to arrange additional support legs between the corners for larger tables.

Fig. 2 shows the support leg body 1 in its initial state before bending. At this stage, the support leg body is a flat sheet metal part with punched-out sections. To finish the support leg, the support leg body 1 is bent by 90° along line 8 and along lines 9 and 10.

The invention is not limited to the embodiments described here. Rather, it is possible to create further design variants and pieces of furniture by combining the features mentioned without departing from the scope of the invention.
