Recliner

The present invention relates to a recliner with a footrest which can be pivoted from a non-use position below the seat into a use position approximately at the height of the seat via fittings arranged in the side area of the recliner.

The present invention is based on the object of creating a recliner of the generic type in which the usable length of the foot part in its position of use is greater than when pivoted into the non-use position.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that the foot part is provided in its front end area with an extension piece which is attached to telescopically extendable guides and whose guides are pushed into their guide sleeves as far as possible when the foot part is in the non-use position and are extended out of the guide sleeves as far as possible when the foot part is in the use position.

The design according to the invention makes it possible in the simplest way to increase the effective length and thus the support surface of the foot part in the position of use without impairing the possibility of pivoting the foot part below the seat into its non-use position, since the extension piece is extended or pushed in relative to the foot part depending on the pivoting position.

Further features of the invention are the subject of subclaims.

As Figure 1 clearly shows, the foot part 3 is equipped with an extension piece 4 in its front end area, which is attached to telescopically extendable guides 5. These telescopically extendable guides 5 are slidably mounted in guide sleeves 6 and make it possible to pull the extension piece 4 into a retracted position towards the foot part 3 when not in use and to extend the extension piece 4 relative to the foot part 3 when the foot part 3 is pivoted in the use position, so that the effective support length of the foot part 3 is increased.

In the embodiment according to Figure 1, the extension piece 4 is approximately in the same plane as the foot part 3.

Figure 2 shows an embodiment of the invention, which differs from the embodiment according to Figure 1 only in that the extension piece 4 is arranged below the foot part 3.

In the embodiment of the invention according to Figure 3, a loop-shaped fabric section 8 is provided between the extension piece 4 and the front end area of the foot part 3, which is connected to both the foot part 3 and the extension piece 4. With a particularly large extension length of the guides 5, the gap that arises between the foot part 3 and the extension piece 4 can thus be conveniently covered.

Figures 4 and 5 show one possibility of how the guides 5 can be moved relative to the guide sleeves 6.

Figure 4 and Figure 5 show a known fitting 7 for folding up and down the foot part 3. It can be clearly seen that an additional angle lever 10 and a swivel bracket 9 are coupled to this fitting 7.

The angle lever 10 is mounted on a support bracket 11 which is attached to the guide sleeve 6.

When the foot part 3 is folded in, the angle lever 10 and the swivel tab 9 move the guide 5 into the guide sleeve 6, and when the foot part 3 is swiveled up, the guide 5 is extended out of the guide sleeve 6. This coupling of the operation of the extension piece 4 with the fitting 7 is particularly advantageous in that additional aids for extending or retracting the guides 5 are superfluous.

In principle, however, the guides 5 can also be extended or retracted manually.

In the embodiment shown in Figure 1, the foot part 3 and the extension piece 4 are padded directly one behind the other. This means that when the foot part 3 is swung up, no or only an extremely small gap is formed between the foot part 3 and the extension piece 4. On the other hand, when the foot part 3 is swung in, the foot part 3 is compressed somewhat in the area of its padding by the inserted extension piece 4, which is easily possible due to the elasticity of the padding.

The embodiment according to Figure 3, which differs from this, has, for structural reasons, a distance between the end of the foot part 3 and the extension piece 4, which is sufficient to prevent compression of the foot part 3.
