Die Erfindung betrifft eine Handgelenkprothese, die bei einem entsprechenden Krankheitsbild als Ersatz für das natürliche Handgelenk zu implantieren ist· Dabei liegt der vorliegenden Erfindung die Aufgabe zugrunde, eine Handgelenkprothese zu schaffen, mittels welcher nach ihrer Implantantion der Bewegungsablauf des Handgelenkes zumindest im wesentlichen wieder vollständig herzustellen ist, also nicht nur ein Schwenken nach vorn und hinten, sondern auch eine Bewegung der gestreckten Hand nach links und rechts, wobei darüber hinaus - bei geringem Abrieb im eigentlichen Gelenkteil - eine lange Lebensdauer erreicht sein soll.The invention relates to a wrist prosthesis which is to be implanted as a replacement for the natural wrist in the case of a corresponding clinical picture. Im implantierten Zustand ist das Radialelement 17 der Handgelenkprothese 1 im Unterarmknochen 18 so verankert, daß die nach oben offene Lagerschale 21 sich im Endabschnitt des Knochens 18 befindet, während das Carpuselement 2 mit seinen zapfenförmigen Ansätzen 4 und 5 der jeweils in einem Mittelhandknochen ragt und sein länger ausgebildeter, mittlerer zapfenförmiger Ansatz 3 bis in den unteren Mittelfingerknochen ragt, wobei die Querstege 16 als Widerlager fungieren. Das Gleitelement 26 liegt etwa mittig auf der Gelenkfläche 20 der Lagerschale 21 auf, so daß die Hand mit dem implantierten Carpuselement 2 in der Lagerschale 21 nach vorn und hinten zu schwenken ist, wobei sich der Verbindungsabschnitt 9 jeweils in eine Ausnehmung 3 0 bewegt, die beiderseits seines Schlitzes für das Verbindungselement 9 vorgesehen ist.
