Das Farbeband besteht aus einem langen, schmalen, aufgerollten Streifen von mit Farbe imprägnirtem Papier, Seide etc. und liegt in der unten an der Indexplatte b befestigten Kapsel b\ in deren Umfang ein Schlitz zum Durchführen des Streifens angebracht ist. Der letztere wird dann über eine gleichfalls unten an der Indexplatte, und zwar an deren vorderem Ende sitzende Glasplatte α weggezogen, über welcher sich eine Vorschubrolle c befindet. Er bewegt sich also rechtwinklig zur Schriftrichtung über den zu beschreibenden Bogen fort; wodurch der Vortheil erreicht wird, dafs der eben geschriebene Buchstabe beim Aufdrucken des nächsten sofort sichtbar wird, dafs man also beim Schreiben selbst die fertige Schrift stets vor Augen hat. Auf der Achse c² der Rolle c ist das Sperrrad c^l befestigt, welches durch die mit dem Bügel c^s verbundene Sperrklinke c^l in Rotation versetzt wird. Der Bügel c³, dessen Drehpunkt in der Mittellinie der Achse £² liegt, wird durch die Feder c^h aufwärts- und bei jedem Niederdrücken der Typenstange d abwärtsgeprefst. Bei der letzteren Bewegung greift die Sperrklinke <r⁴ in die Zähne des Sperrrades c^l und dreht dasselbe, während sie beim Aufwärtsschwingen darüber weggleitet. Das zwischen der Platte α und der Rolle c theilweise eingeklemmte Farbeband wird also bei jedem Niederdrücken der Typenstange etwas vorgeschoben, so dafs also unter jede das Papier berührende Type eine noch unbenutzte Stelle des Farbebandes zu liegen kommt.The ribbon consists of a long, narrow, rolled-up strip of ink-impregnated paper, silk, etc., and lies in the capsule b, which is attached to the bottom of the index plate b , in the circumference of which a slot is made for the passage of the strip.
