Dieser Wassermesser besteht aus folgenden Haupttheilen:This water meter consists of the following main parts:

Im übrigen bietet dasselbe nichts Eigenthümliches und braucht daher nicht weiter beschrieben zu werden. V ist ein Gehäuse, welches die oberen Theile und den Zählapparat bedeckt und ν eine kleine, über dem unteren Deckel / des Seitenrohres E gelegte Kapsel, welche die Schraube des unteren Theiles /' abschliefst, und verhindert, dafs Unbefugte an diese Schraube gelangen. Wenn der Kolben C sich an dem oberen Ende des Mefscylinders A befindet und die Kolbenventile MM1 ihren höchsten Stand in dem Seitenrohre E einnehmen (wie in der Zeichnung dargestellt), derart, dafs sie gegen ihre oberen Sitze anliegen, so steht das obere Ende des Cylinders A (über dem Kolben C) mit der Einflufsröhre e, und das untere Ende des Cylinders (unterhalb des Kolbens C) mit der Ausflufsröhre ex in Verbindung. Der Theil /' ist bei L abgedichtet und mit Abflufslöchern k k ringsherum versehen. Das einfliefsende Wasser tritt am Kopfende des Cylinders A über dem Kolben C ein und drückt diesen nach unten. Beim Niedergange kommt die geschlitzte Kolbenstange D mit ihrem oberen Anschlage d mit dem Hebel R in Berührung und drückt denselben nieder, was zur Folge hat, dafs auch die an dem Hebel S sitzende Rolle S1 niedergedrückt und das Gewicht S ~ dementsprechend gehoben wird. Sobald jedoch die Spitze der Herzplatte r die Mitte der Rolle S1 überschritten hat, geht das Gewicht ,S2 nieder und zwingt die Rolle, die andere gekrümmte Fläche der Herzplatte r hinaufzurollen und hierdurch den Hub des Hebels 7? zu vollenden; oder mit kürzeren Worten: der Hebel R wird bis zu dem Augenblicke, wo die Spitze der Herzscheibe r die Mitte der Rolle S1 überschritten hat, durch die Kolbenstange D und dann den übrigen Theil seines Hubes durch den Hebel S bewegt.
