Abstract

A variable length lock has a two section locking bolt (4, 5) inside a two section housing (13, 14) on a common mounting plate (15). The housing slide axially on guides and the bolts are linked by a coupling which transmits the lock action. The lock has integral ratchet grips which enable the installer to vary the length of the lock to match the door/frame thickness over a defined range. The ratchet provide a positive and secure fitting.
