Abstract

The flame arrester disk (10), for a flow of explosive gas, has a number of defined passage gaps (17,18) with a width according to the gas characteristics. The gas flow through the passage gaps is cooled, and the second passage gap (18) has a smaller cross section than the first passage gap (17) by a maximum of 50%. The passage gaps are arranged in rings or coils (12,13). The flame arrester disk is formed by a smooth metal strip (14) wound together with corrugated metal strips (15,15'), where its larger corrugations (16) form the first passage gaps, and the smaller corrugations shape the coils with the smaller passage gaps.
