Abstract

A sliding door consists of two leaves (5) joined to each other by hinges and having fittings top and bottom at one end, which slide along a guides top and bottom. The door has a fixed end and a free sliding end. The fixed end of the door (5) is esp. attached to hinges (4) in the surrounding prior art door frame (1).

Folding-sliding door leaf and folding-sliding door element

Description

The invention relates to a folding-sliding door leaf with at least two hingedly connected door leaf parts, wherein the closing-side door leaf part is provided on its upper side with a guide element running in a guide rail, and to a folding-sliding door element.

Folding-sliding doors are used wherever there is little space to open a door or where conventional sliding doors cannot be retrofitted due to structural conditions. Folding-sliding doors are also much easier for physically disabled people, such as wheelchair users, to operate than conventional doors, which usually have a large swing area that is inconvenient for the person operating them. Folding-sliding doors are usually retrofitted into existing door frames.

DE 200 21 081 U1 discloses a folding-sliding door with a folding-sliding door leaf as mentioned above, which has an additional frame that is placed on an existing door frame. On the one hand, this involves a considerable amount of extra work for the additional frame parts and fittings, and on the other hand, the existing fittings on the door frame, i.e. hinge parts and lock parts, remain unused and visible. In addition, optical problems arise with different floor coverings in the rooms separated by the door, since the door leaf of the attached folding-sliding door runs on a different plane than a conventional door leaf when closed, and so the floor covering of the other room is visible in one room when the folding-sliding door is closed.

Another type of folding-sliding door is described in DE 298 10 559 U1. In this case, additional fittings, namely a strike plate and the hinge means, as well as the guide rail in the reveal, are installed when retrofitting an existing door frame. This folding-sliding door also requires significant additional fittings, which are an additional expense. In addition, the passage height of the door is reduced and the difficulties described above arise again with different floor coverings in the rooms separated by the door.

The object of the present invention is to further develop the prior art while avoiding the disadvantages described.

This problem is solved with the features of the independent claims. Since the folding-sliding door leaf is designed to be hooked into the fittings of a conventional door frame and the axes of rotation of the fittings and the guide element lie in a common plane perpendicular to the direction of passage, the existing fittings of the door frame can be used when the folding-sliding door leaf is subsequently installed in an existing door frame. Only the guide rail for the guide element needs to be attached to the upper cross section of the door frame. By choosing the axes of rotation of the fittings and the guide element according to the invention, the folding-sliding door leaf can be easily closed on the existing rubber lining of the conventional door frame, whereby a conventional compass bolt lock with the corresponding fitting can be used in the door frame. When the folding-sliding door is closed, the folding-sliding door leaf runs in the same plane as a conventional door leaf previously hooked into the door frame, so that a perfect floor finish is provided.

It goes without saying that the folding-sliding door leaf according to the invention is not only suitable for subsequent installation in existing conventional door frames, but can also be used as a folding-sliding door element from the outset when installing a new folding-sliding door. For this purpose, an essentially unchanged conventional door frame can be used, in which the guide rail is only arranged in the area of the upper cross section of the door frame.

The guide element can be arranged in the area of the closing side of the folding-sliding door leaf, i.e. at the outer end of the door leaf part.

However, another advantageous development of the invention provides for the guide element to be arranged in front of the closing side of the folding-sliding door leaf, i.e. outside the folding-sliding door leaf when viewed from above. This design further improves the closing of the folding-sliding door, especially when it is installed in existing door frames.

Fig. 1 shows a section through a conventional door frame 1 with side frame parts 2, 3. A correspondingly designed folding-sliding door leaf 5 is suspended in the fittings 4, which consists of two door leaf parts 6, 7 that are connected to one another via hinges 8. The door leaf parts are provided with circumferential stops 9 in the manner of a conventional door leaf.

In Fig. 1, the closed position of the folding-sliding door is shown in solid lines and a partially open position and the open position are shown in dashed lines. It is clearly visible that the axes of rotation of the fittings 4 and the guide element - not shown in Fig. 1 - run in a common plane perpendicular to the direction of passage. As can be seen particularly clearly from the open position of the folding-sliding door leaf 5, the special choice of the axes of rotation of the fittings and the guide element results in the door leaf part 6 being slightly shorter than the door leaf part 7. In practice, the difference is approximately 1 cm.

According to the enlarged views of the folding-sliding door leaf 5 shown in Fig. 2 and 3, this is provided in the manner of a conventional door leaf with hinge parts 10 which can be hooked into the fittings 4 of the door frame 1. The hinges 8 between the door leaf parts 6, 7 are designed in a known manner.

The closing-side door leaf part 7 is provided with a guide element 11 on its upper side, with two different designs being shown in solid and dashed lines in Fig. 2 and 3. The guide element is formed by a pin 12 which is arranged on a guide fitting 13, for example made of stainless steel, which is fastened to the door leaf part 7 with indicated screws 14. According to the design of the guide element 11 shown in solid lines, the pin 12 is arranged in the area of the closing side 15, i.e. at the outermost end of the door leaf part 7. In the other design shown in dashed lines, the pin 12 is located outside the door leaf part 7 when viewed from above or from the side in the direction of arrow III, which on the one hand makes it easier to close the folding-sliding door and on the other hand results in a slightly larger opening angle of approx. 92° compared to an opening angle of 90° in the first design.

Fig. 4 shows a section of the conventional door frame 1, the cross part 16 of which is provided with a guide rail 17 for the guide element 11. For this purpose, the guide rail 17 is arranged in a rail cover strip 18 attached to the cross part 16.

In the guide rail there is a plastic slider 19 into which the pin 12 engages in a rotatable manner, so that the guide element 11 of the folding-sliding door is positively guided. It goes without saying that another design of the positive guide is also possible, for example by means of a pair of rollers running in the guide rail.

As can be seen from Fig. 4, the folding-sliding door leaf 5 closes on the rubber seal 20 of the door frame 1.

Folding-sliding door leaf with at least two door leaf parts connected to one another in an articulated manner, the door leaf part on the closing side being provided on its upper side with a guide element running in a guide rail, characterized in that the folding-sliding door leaf ( 5 ) is designed to be hooked into the fittings ( 4 ) of a conventional door frame ( 1 ) and the axes of rotation of the fittings ( 4 ) and of the guide element ( 11 ) lie in a common plane perpendicular to the direction of passage. 2. Folding-sliding door leaf according to claim 1, characterized in that the guide element ( 11 ) is formed by a pin ( 12 ) which engages in a slider ( 19 ) of the guide rail ( 17 ). 3. Folding-sliding door leaf according to one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that the guide element ( 11 ) is arranged in the region of the closing side ( 15 ) of the folding-sliding door leaf ( 5 ). 4. Folding-sliding door leaf according to one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that the guide element ( 11 ) is arranged in front of the closing side ( 15 ) of the folding-sliding door leaf ( 5 ). 5.
