Abstract

The connection to the wall pipe is rigid and the connection to the washbasin has the pipe on the basin fitting inside the entrance to the U-bend assembly and sealed by an O-ring.

Odour trap

STATE OF THE ART

The present invention relates to odor traps as they are commonly used in sanitary facilities with a water basin, such as washbasins, vanity units or bidets, etc.

Such an odour trap is intended to separate the freely accessible part of the device, such as the washbasin or bidet, from odours from a waste pipe that can be connected to it.

As shown in Fig. 1 (state of the art regarding washbasin odor trap), the odor trap is provided with a U-shaped pipe section 2 which, when filled with water, forms an odor barrier between the downstream sewer system (right in Fig. 1, arrow shows direction of flow) and the "upstream" washbasin. It is also provided with a wall pipe 4 that can be screwed between the U-pipe 2 and the wall sewage pipe (not shown), as well as with an immersion pipe 8 for connection between a suitably extended end section 6 of the U-pipe and the washbasin pipe socket on the washbasin (not shown). These parts 2, 4, 6, 8 are connected to one another by seals. A so-called rosette is also provided as a wall panel 24.

The immersion pipe is attached to the wash basin's flow opening so that

which in turn is connected to the U-pipe, which in turn is connected to the wall pipe, which opens into the wall and is connected to the further drainage pipe system. 5

The disadvantage of this pipe system between the wall and the washbasin, which is made up of three pipe sections: U-pipe, wall pipe and immersion pipe, is that it takes a relatively long time to assemble, as the three pipe sections have to be connected to one another using seals. Another disadvantage is that every connection can potentially become leaky. A final disadvantage is that a relatively large number of individual parts are required to assemble this pipe system.

The object of the present invention is therefore to provide an odor trap system that requires fewer parts and is easier to assemble.

ADVANTAGES OF THE INVENTION

The odor trap according to the invention with the features of claim 1 solves this problem. The time saved when installing it on a bidet is about 7-10 minutes. The costs for the odor trap can be reduced by an estimated half.

The object is thus achieved according to the invention in that the pipe system between the wall and the water basin essentially consists of two pieces, with the U-pipe section being formed in one piece with the wall pipe section. The immersion pipe is preferably used with an O-ring seal as known in the prior art in order to be able to make height adjustments.

The free end on the wall side is also connected in the same way as the wall pipe in the state of the art.

The subclaims contain advantageous further developments and improvements of the respective subject matter of the invention.

Both in the version for washbasins / vanity units (see Fig. 1 and 2) and in the version for bidets (Fig. 3), installation is considerably simplified.

A parts set for an odor trap according to the invention contains, in addition to the one-piece U-pipe/wall pipe, a suitable immersion pipe with a suitable seal for the connection between the U-pipe section and the water basin.

With reference to Fig. 2, the odor trap 20 according to the invention is designed in an integrated form so that it

shaped pipe section 28 and the wall pipe section 26 in one piece. The odor trap can be made from commercially available materials as known from the state of the art, i.e. essentially plastic or metal. The wall-side end 22 of the odor trap according to the invention is connected to the pipe end in the wall in the same way as is done in the state of the art with the wall pipe 4 (Fig. 1). This can be done, for example, using the usual rubber nipples and a permanently elastic plastic fermit. A closing panel 24 towards the wall is present as in Fig. 1.

The odor trap according to the invention in accordance with this embodiment contains a part 26 shown horizontally in Fig. 2 and a U-shaped bent part 28 made from one piece. The washbasin-side end of the odor trap encompasses the immersion pipe 8 over a certain, predetermined overlap length, with a so-called O-ring being provided as a seal, as is known as a sealing measure in the prior art and shown separately in detail in the figure. This is provided in order to ensure a certain adjustability in height. In detail, the odor trap according to the invention has an expanded end section 6 at its end facing the washbasin, which, as known from the prior art, has a slightly expanded diameter over a length of about 10 cm, so that the washbasin connection pipe can be pushed in over at least significant parts of the overlapping area, see also Fig. 1.

With reference to Fig. 3, an embodiment of the odor trap for bidets according to the invention is shown, which differs essentially by a modified, smaller U-angle, and is thus adapted to the bowls of bidets in terms of pipe geometry.

Claims (4)

1. Odour trap ( 20 ) for connecting sanitary facilities, in particular for water basins of washbasins or bidets, against odours from a wall-side wastewater pipe that can be connected to it, with
a U-pipe section ( 28 ) which, when filled with water, forms an odor barrier between the downstream sewer system and the upstream water basin, and with
a wall pipe section ( 26 ) between the U-pipe section ( 28 ) and the sewage pipe, characterized in that the U-pipe section ( 28 ) is formed integrally with the wall pipe section ( 26 ). 2. Odor trap according to claim 1, with a pipe geometry adapted for washbasins or vanity units. 3. Odor trap according to claim 1, with a pipe geometry adapted for bidets. 4. Parts set for an odor trap according to one of the preceding claims, further comprising a dip tube ( 8 ) with a suitable seal for connection between the U-pipe section ( 28 ) and the water basin.
