Abstract

An aid for disabled or elderly persons facilitates donning or removal of foot socks or stockings. The aid consists of a base plate (2) with a pivoting (3) footrest (1) having oval side-apertures (4) each side. The base plate further has a height-adjustment (5) and an upright holding rod (6).

Description

The stocking pull -on element

consists of a base plate (2) and a half-shell that can be made of plastic and can be pivoted vertically. The radius of this half-shell is adapted to the stocking size.

While sitting, place the device on the table. You can get a secure hold for the tightening element by placing the front rubber feet against the table top as a stop. ( Figure 1 )

To put on the stocking, place it in the half-shell (1). Grasp the beginning of the stocking with both hands on the left and right and pull it step by step over the half-shell using your thumb and the next two fingers until the heel is visible outside. The two recesses on the left and right in the half-shell ensure that your fingers can grip it well during this process.

Now the device is placed on the floor using the support rod and held in place with one foot. Then push the second foot all the way forward into the opening of the stocking and then swing the toes upwards towards the body (Figure 2)

By lifting the lower leg, the half-shell now folds vertically upwards and pulls the stocking towards the knee. ( Figure 3 )

The stocking can now be pulled up over the knee by hand. (Figure 4)

To put on compression stockings, the half shell must be tilted to a steeper angle of approx. 45° using a pivoting stop. This makes it much easier to slide the leg in.

Stocking pull-out element

To remove compression and normal stockings, the swivel stop of the donning element is removed again (swung to the side)

The stocking is now pushed over the heel using this special pull-out element with a stop pin. ( Figure 5 )

Then the foot is put back into the device with the stocking half removed and the pull-out element inserted into it. The stop pin of the pull-out element is inserted into a hole in the half shell of the pull-on element. While you hold the device with one foot, you can pull the other foot out of the compression stocking, making what would otherwise be a difficult job child's play.

The device is placed back on the table using the holding rod and the stocking held in it can be removed.

Invention according to the preamble of claim 1

This invention is a good aid for people who can no longer bend over, or who have a stiff back or lumbago.
Especially with compression stockings, older people no longer have enough strength to put them on or take them off. This work then has to be taken over by caregivers, which in turn increases the costs for health insurance companies. The aim of the invention was therefore to develop a device that would allow these people to put on or take off stockings every day without any outside help and without great effort.

Simple, well-functioning aids are not known.

The device is simple in design and can be manufactured inexpensively.

1. Stocking donning element for disabled persons, characterized in that a half-shell ( 1 ) is mounted vertically pivotably on a base plate ( 2 ) ( 4 ).

Stocking removal element ( 7 ) for disabled persons, characterized in that a stop pin is attached to a narrow, longer, straight half-shell with a handle, which enables the removal of compression stockings.
