(z.B. variable balans, Stokke ca. 1980 oder Schaukelstuhl DE 8811023). Zur Anregung und Förderung einer gesunden Sitzhaltung mit geradem Rücken werden solche Kniestühle verwendet. Durch die Stützflächen für die Kniee wird jedoch die Sitzposition des Benutzers stark festgelegt und ist eine Änderung der Sitzposition nur eingeschränkt möglich. Auch die dauerhafte Belastung der Kniee mit einem Teil des Körpergewichtes wird dabei als problematisch angesehen.
