Grabmale üblicher Bauart werden vorwiegend aus Stein gefertigt und verfügen über eingemeißelte Beschriftungen. Sollen nun z.B. bei Familiengräbern zusätzliche Namen auf dem Grabstein eingemeißelt werden, so muss der Stein in die Werkstatt des Steinmetz gebracht werden und nach der Bearbeitung erneut versetzt werden. Hierzu ist immer der teure Einsatz von Maschinen und Arbeitszeit erforderlich.
