Abstract

The jacket is assembled of an upper part (3) accommodating the arms (2) and the upper chest area, and a lower part (4) enveloping the waist region. A pair of straps (11) is first guided across the shoulders of the user, lying on top of the outer surface of the upper part (3), and from there under the lower jacket part (4), through the crotch and around the upper area of the thighs (12). The straps (11, 12) are fastened with safety buckles. In a second version two separate pairs of straps (11, 12) are used.

Paddle jacket for canoeists

The invention relates to a paddling jacket for canoeists with an outer jacket part that can be pulled over a spray deck of a canoe according to the preamble of claim 1.

Canoeists, especially kayakers, use paddling jackets that seal tightly in the neck and wrist areas and can be pulled over the spray deck of the canoe or kayak in the stomach area, creating a relatively tight seal between the paddling jacket and the spray deck.

If an injured or unconscious canoeist has to be rescued, this is often done by grabbing the shoulder straps of the life jacket with the hands or by hooking rope hooks onto the shoulder straps of the life jacket in order to be able to pull the canoeist up. In this case, the life jacket may be pulled off, so that the canoeist can no longer be rescued in this way.

The invention is therefore based on the object of providing a pad-

deljacke of the type mentioned above, which enables the rescue of a canoeist in a much safer and more reliable manner.

This object is achieved according to the invention by the features of claim 1. Advantageous embodiments of the invention are described in the further claims.

In the paddling jacket according to the invention, rescue straps are provided which are attached to the jacket part and which comprise shoulder straps and leg straps, the shoulder straps running over the shoulders outside the jacket part, while the leg straps are designed as an extension of the shoulder straps and extend downwards from them inside the jacket part.

It is therefore characteristic of the paddling jacket according to the invention that rescue straps are provided in the form of shoulder and leg straps, whereby the leg straps can be designed in the form of loop-like crotch straps known from climbing, which are firmly connected to the shoulder straps or can be designed as one piece with them. This makes it possible to grab the canoeist by the shoulder straps of the paddling jacket, or to hook a hook of a rescue rope there and pull the injured or unconscious canoeist up with it. The pulling force is transferred via the shoulder straps directly to the leg straps. These prevent the paddling jacket from being pulled over the canoeist's head.

The rescue straps are conveniently located at the front in the chest area and at the back in the shoulder blade area or just below.

According to a particularly advantageous embodiment, an inner jacket skirt is provided within the outer jacket part, which is arranged at least in the lower half of the outer jacket part and is connected to the outer jacket part in its upper edge area, with the leg straps running between the outer jacket part and the inner jacket skirt. In this case, the spray deck attached to the canoe is pulled over the inner jacket skirt and the leg straps, while the outer jacket part is in turn pulled over the spray deck.

Conveniently, the outer jacket part has an upper jacket section and a lower jacket section sewn onto it, with the rescue straps being passed through the jacket part at the seam between the upper and lower jacket sections.

According to an advantageous embodiment, the leg straps have quick-release fasteners for opening, closing and tightening the leg straps, which are arranged in the stomach or chest area. This allows the leg straps to be pulled from the back to the front between the legs, closed using the quick-release fasteners and then tightened.

According to an advantageous embodiment, a fastening cuff for attaching life jackets is provided on the shoulder straps. Since life jackets for canoeists usually also have school

tergurte, it is thus easily possible to move the shoulder straps of the life jacket over the shoulder straps of the paddling jacket and to enclose them using the fastening cuffs so that the shoulder strap of the life jacket can be fixed to the shoulder strap of the paddling jacket.

The paddling jacket shown in Figures 1 to 5 has an outer jacket part 1 consisting of sleeves 2, a

upper jacket section 3 and a lower jacket section 4, which is sewn onto the lower edge of the upper jacket section 3 and extends from there downwards to the hip area of the canoeist. The circumferential seam between the upper jacket section 3 and the lower jacket section 4 is designated 5 in Figure 1 and runs slightly below the armpits around the chest and back area. Alternatively, it is also possible to form the upper jacket section 3 and lower jacket section 4 in one piece.

In order to prevent water from penetrating the neck and sleeve area, the jacket part 1 also has an elastic neck part 6 and elastic cuffs 7 on the sleeves, which fit tightly around the neck or sleeves of the canoeist.

Within the lower jacket section 4 of the outer jacket part 1, there is also an inner jacket apron 8, which also extends upwards to the seam 5 and in this area is also sewn to the lower edge of the upper jacket section 3 by means of the seam 5 (Figure 2). At the lower edge of the inner jacket apron 8, there is a circumferential apron end 10 made of elastic material, which rests in the hip area of the canoeist. The lower jacket section 4 of the outer jacket part 1 is not connected to the inner jacket apron 8 below the seam 5, so that a spray deck of a canoe (not shown) can be pulled up between the lower jacket section 4 of the outer jacket part 1 and the inner jacket apron 8 and fastened there. The lower jacket section 4 is thus pulled over such a spray deck.

The paddling jacket is equipped with rescue straps that consist of a left-hand and a right-hand shoulder strap 11 and leg straps 12, with each shoulder strap 11 being formed in one piece with a leg strap 12, i.e. each shoulder strap 11 merges into a corresponding leg strap 12. The shoulder straps 11 run outside the outer jacket part 1 over the shoulders. At the seam between the upper jacket section 3 and the lower jacket section 4, the rescue straps are passed through the outer jacket part 1 and sewn to the outer jacket part 1 using the seam 5. The rescue straps run below the seam 5, i.e. the leg straps 12 thus between the lower jacket section 4 and the jacket inner apron 8.

Each rescue strap 11 ends just below the seam 5 and thus in the area between the outer jacket part 1 and the inner jacket apron 8 in the chest area in a coupling ring ₉ through which a coupling part 14, which is provided at the end of each leg strap 12, can be pushed. Coupling ring 9 and coupling part 14 together form a quick-release fastener 13. To put on the paddling jacket, the quick-release fasteners 13 are released so that the canoeist can slip into the paddling jacket from below. After putting on the paddling jacket, the leg straps are pulled from back to front between the legs and the coupling parts 14 are connected to the associated coupling rings 9. The free ends 17 of the leg straps 12 protrude beyond the coupling parts 14, as shown in Figure 2, so that these free ends can then be grasped and pulled downwards, whereby the leg straps 12 are tightened.

From Figure 4 it can be seen that the shoulder straps 11 are connected in the back area by an additional cross strap 15 in order to prevent the shoulder straps 11 from accidentally shifting sideways. 5

Furthermore, the shoulder straps 11 have fastening cuffs 16 in the shoulder area, which surround the shoulder straps 11 in a sleeve-like manner when closed and can be opened using Velcro fasteners. These fastening cuffs 16 serve to fix shoulder straps of a life jacket (not shown) that is pulled over the paddling jacket to the shoulder straps 11.

Claims (6)

1. Paddling jacket for canoeists with an outer jacket part ( 1 ) that can be pulled over a spray deck of a canoe, characterized by rescue straps attached to the jacket part ( 1 ), which comprise shoulder straps ( 11 ) and leg straps ( 12 ), wherein the shoulder straps ( 11 ) run outside the jacket part ( 1 ) over the shoulders, while the leg straps ( 12 ) are designed as an extension of the shoulder straps ( 11 ) and extend downwards from these inside the jacket part ( 1 ). 2. Paddling jacket according to claim 1, characterized in that the rescue straps are guided at the front in the chest area and at the back in the shoulder blade area or just below the shoulder blade area from the outside of the outer jacket part ( 1 ) to the inside of the outer jacket part ( 1 ). 3. Paddling jacket according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the outer jacket part ( 1 ) has an upper jacket section ( 3 ) and a lower jacket section ( 4 ) sewn thereto and the rescue straps are guided through the jacket part ( 1 ) at the seam between the upper and lower jacket sections ( 3 , 4 ). 4. Paddling jacket according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that an inner jacket apron ( 8 ) is provided within the outer jacket part ( 1 ), which is arranged at least in the lower half of the outer jacket part ( 1 ) and is connected to the outer jacket part ( 1 ) in its upper edge region, and that the leg straps ( 12 ) run between the outer jacket part ( 1 ) and the inner jacket apron ( 8 ). 5. Paddling jacket according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the rescue straps for opening and closing the leg straps ( 12 ) have quick-release fasteners ( 13 ) which are arranged in the stomach or chest area. 6. Paddling jacket according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that a fastening cuff ( 16 ) for attaching life jackets is provided on the shoulder straps ( 11 ).
