Abstract

The device for the fastening of a sidewall tarpaulin cover (6) to the awning (4) of a caravan has a fastening unit (10) formed from at least two sections fixed along the side edge of the awning and which each comprises an upper section (34,36) and lower section (24,26) which are movably interconnected by a connecting element in the form of a joint or hinge. In many caravans and motorhomes, awnings that are attached to a long wall and can be extended can be extended to form an awning. To do this, a front wall tarpaulin is attached to the front panel of the awning that is furthest from the car when extended, and side wall tarpaulins are attached to the side edges of the awning. This is generally done by pulling a pole into the side wall tarpaulin below the awning panel and hanging the side wall tarpaulin from this. This means that there is a gap between the underside of the awning panel and the top of the poles and the side part. There is no connection at the top. Wind or rain can blow into the awning through the gap. It is also not possible to attach a zip, as otherwise the awning fabric can no longer be rolled up.

A device of this type is known from DE 295 12 892 Ul, which is characterized, among other things, by the fact that a wind and rainproof connection is created between the awning panel and the side wall tarpaulin. The known construction is sufficiently robust to ensure reliable function even after repeated assembly and disassembly.

Based on this, the present invention is based on the object of improving the advantages of the known device for

To maintain the attachment of a side wall tarpaulin to an awning of a caravan, camper trailer or motorhome and at the same time further improve handling during storage, assembly and disassembly.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that the fastening device is formed from at least two sections which can be fastened along the side edge of the awning and which each have an upper part and a lower part.

By dividing the device into several sections, each of which has an upper part and a lower part, the handling of the device is improved. While the length of the upper part and the lower part of the device known from DE 2 95 12 892 Ul corresponded to the width of the side wall tarpaulin, the upper and lower sections of the present invention are shorter. The components of the device therefore take up less space when dismantled and can be stowed more easily, for example in the packing compartments of a mobile home.

To assemble the device according to the invention, the upper and lower sections of a first section of the device can be assembled before the assembly of a subsequent section is carried out. This has the advantage that handling is made easier due to the reduced length of the upper and lower sections. For example.

the length of the sections can be shortened to around one meter. For a side wall tarpaulin with a width of three meters, three sections are therefore required. These shorter sections are easier to handle, especially for smaller people. The safety of bystanders is also increased, as it is less likely that they will be hit by the now shorter sections and possibly even injured due to the carelessness of the person installing them.

The above-mentioned advantages also come into play during disassembly. The device according to the invention can be disassembled in sections and the individual components can be stowed away one after the other.

The device according to the invention also has the advantage that the length of the device can be varied overall. If, for example, the awning in the maximum extended position takes up more space than is available on a campsite, the awning can only be extended partially and only individual sections of the device can be installed. For example, the awning can only be extended by two meters instead of three and only two sections of the device according to the invention can be used instead of three. A side wall tarpaulin with a width of two meters instead of three can then be attached to these two sections, or, for example, two side wall tarpaulins connected to one another, each one meter wide.

Advantageously, the lower sections of the fastening device are fastening rails with a rectangular cross-section. Such fastening rails have the advantage that their cross-section has a high area moment of inertia, so that bending due to the weight of the fastening rail or the weight of the side wall tarpaulin attached to the fastening rail is avoided. Furthermore, such fastening rails can be easily manufactured, for example as continuous casting in a continuous process, and then assembled. The use of aluminum profiles is also conceivable, which are known, for example, from the use in the construction of test facilities or special machines.

It is also advantageous that an upper part and a lower part are movably connected to one another via at least one connecting element. The connecting element is advantageously designed as a joint or hinge. This feature further improves the handling of the device according to the invention. During assembly, the corresponding upper and lower parts do not have to be found from all the existing components and oriented to one another, but can be used without pre-assembly.

If the connecting element is designed as a joint or hinge, an upper and a lower section can be clamped to the awning like a pair of pliers.

In the dismantled state, the upper part and the lower part are spaced apart from one another in areas remote from the joint, so that an awning section can be inserted between the upper part and the lower part, which can be clamped by pivoting the upper part and the lower part towards one another in order to create a reliable connection between the device according to the invention and the awning.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the receptacle for the piping is a piping groove. One or two such grooves can be provided, for example, on the underside of the lower sections. Piping connections have proven to be very reliable for connecting solid components and flexible fabric parts for camping applications or in sailing. The piping groove can be integrated directly on or in the underside of the lower sections. If several grooves are used, several side wall tarpaulins can be attached to the side area of the awning. For example, the piping of a rainproof side wall tarpaulin that can be folded up when the weather is nice can be attached to a first, outer piping groove. The piping of a fine-mesh fabric that provides protection against insects can be attached to a second, inner piping groove.

In an embodiment of the invention, the lower sections can be connected to one another. This increases the stability of the device according to the invention itself and of the combination of awning, device and side wall tarpaulin.

Connection can be provided before, during or after assembly of the individual sub-sections.

In a further embodiment of the invention, receptacles for connecting elements are provided on the lower sections. This ensures a reliable connection of the lower sections. When the receptacles are integrated into the lower sections, for example by means of receptacles in the form of grooves or cavities, connecting elements can be arranged flat or concealed, which contributes to an attractive appearance.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a first section of a connecting element can be fastened to or in a first lower section and a second section of the connecting element can be inserted into at least one adjacent lower section. For example, the first and second lower sections are designed as rectangular or square hollow profiles, with the centrally arranged cavity having a square cross-section. A strip-like connecting element with a square cross-section can be inserted into this cross-section. Such a connecting element is fastened, for example, with a first section by screws in the cavity of a first lower section and protrudes with a second section beyond the end of this first lower section. The second section of the connecting element can be inserted into the cavity of a second lower section adjacent to the first lower section.

The object of the invention is also achieved on its own or in combination with the features already described above in that at least one element for adjusting the length of the fastening device is provided on the fastening device adjacent to the bracket on the vehicle side and/or the bracket remote from the vehicle. In an embodiment of the invention, the at least one element for length adjustment is essentially angular, with one leg being attachable to the underside of the lower part and one leg being attachable to the awning holder on the carriage side and/or away from the carriage. This makes it possible to create a stable connection between a holder and the fastening device. The element for length adjustment therefore also takes on the function of a connecting element between the device according to the invention and the holder on the carriage side and/or away from the carriage.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the element for length adjustment can be inserted and fixed in grooves on the underside of the lower part. This means that after the side wall tarpaulin has been installed, the element for length adjustment is in an area protected from the effects of the weather. In addition, good accessibility of the element for length adjustment is guaranteed when installing the fastening device.

For example, a groove with an undercut (e.g. T-slot) is provided on the underside of the lower part or a lower part section, in which a holder for the connecting element is arranged so that it can move. The holder can be connected to the length adjustment element via a screw connection. By tightening the screw connection, the length adjustment element is then fixed in a certain position relative to the lower part or a lower part section.

Furthermore, the object of the invention is also achieved on its own or in combination with the features already described above by providing at least one clamp or the like which can be fastened to a side wall of the lower part and engages around the upper part.

The clamp increases the stability of the connection between the awning and the fastening device. This prevents the upper and lower parts from separating due to unfavourable wind currents, for example, and exposing the previously clamped awning panel.

Because the clamp can be attached to a side wall of the lower part or a section of the lower part, no access openings need to be provided in the side wall tarpaulin, which are required when a clamp completely encompasses both the lower part and the upper part or both a lower part and an upper part section.

An uninterrupted rain and windproof connection to the side wall tarpaulin must be created along the fastening device.

The clamp can advantageously be fastened in a groove that is formed in a side wall of the lower part. This reliably guides the clamp in the lower part or in a lower part section so that it can be moved longitudinally, whereby the position of the clamp relative to the lower part or to a lower part section can be adjusted. By gripping the upper part, it is reliably prevented that the upper part comes loose from the lower part or that an upper part section comes loose from a lower part section and that the previously clamped awning panel is exposed.

Several clamps can be provided, for example if the fastening device has several sections. If the awning is set up in a location with particularly severe weather influences, several clamps can also be used for each section of the fastening device.

In Figure 1, the outline of a caravan or mobile home 2 is shown on the right-hand side. An awning, designated overall by 4, is attached to the caravan 2. A side wall tarpaulin 6 is provided along the side edge of the awning 4, which is equipped with a window 8.

The side wall tarpaulin 6 is connected to the awning 4 via a fastening device, designated as a whole with 10. The fastening device projects into a housing 12 adjacent to the caravan 2, in which an awning roller 14 is mounted. The awning web 16 is unwound from the awning roller 14 and extends along the awning 4. Below the housing 12 on the caravan 2, a trailer-side

Support 18 is provided for the fastening device 10. On the side of the awning 4 remote from the caravan 2, a bracket 20 remote from the caravan is provided, which has a support 22 remote from the caravan on the side facing the caravan 2.

The fastening device 10 extends between the support 18 on the carriage side and the support remote from the carriage. It is formed from a lower section 24, which extends between the support 18 on the carriage side to approximately the middle of the side wall tarpaulin 6, and a lower section 26, which extends from the middle of the side wall tarpaulin 6 to the support 22 remote from the carriage. The lower sections 24 and 26 are connected to one another via a connecting element 28 shown in dashed lines. Hinges 30 and 32 are provided on the lower sections 24 and 26, which in turn are connected to upper sections 34 and 36. The lower section 24, the hinge 30 and the upper section 34 form a first section of the fastening device 10; the lower section 26, the hinge 32 and the upper section 36 form a second section of the fastening device 10.

Adjacent to the carriage-side support 18, an element 38 for adjusting the length of the fastening device 10 is provided at the end of the lower section 24. The element 38 is described in more detail with reference to Figure 4.

Figure 2 shows a cross section through the fastening device 10 according to section II-II in Figure 1. Figure 2 shows the lower section 24 and the upper section 34 of the fastening device 10. The side wall tarpaulin 6 is attached to the lower section 24. The awning panel 16 is clamped between the lower section 24 and the upper section 34.

Two piping receiving grooves 40 and 42 are provided on the underside of the lower section 24. A piping 44, which is connected to the side wall tarpaulin 6, is held in the piping receiving groove 42.

The lower section 24 has a cavity with a square cross-section and a cavity wall 46. The connecting element 28 is arranged in the cavity delimited by the wall 46 and is held there by means of clamping connections (not shown).

Between the piping receiving grooves 40 and 42, a groove 48 is provided on the underside of the lower section 24. Corresponding grooves 50 and 52 are also provided on the sides of the lower section 24.

The hinge 30 is provided for the connection between the lower part section 24 and the upper part section 34. A first hinge wing 54 of the hinge 30 is connected via a

Rivet connection 56 is attached to an upper side portion of the lower section 24. A second hinge wing 58 is connected to a portion of the upper section 34 via a rivet connection 60.

The upper part section 34 has two clamping jaws 62 and 64 on the side facing the lower part section, which delimit a receiving space 66. Two clamping rails 68 and 70 are accommodated in this space, which are provided on the upper side of the lower part section 24. A section 72 of the awning panel 16 is clamped between the clamping jaw 62 and the clamping rail 68 or between the clamping jaw 64 and the clamping rail. The awning panel 16 runs out of the clamping area through an opening 74, which is formed between the upper wall of the groove 50 of the lower part section 24 and a lower section of the upper part section 34.

The illustration in Figure 3 corresponds essentially to Figure 2. According to Figure 3, however, a clamp 76 is additionally provided, which is essentially bow-shaped and has a lower section 78, which projects into the groove 52 in the lower section 24, a side section 80 and an upper section 82. At the free end of the upper section 82, a threaded bore 84 is provided, into which a threaded pin 86 is screwed.

At the upper end of the threaded pin 86 shown in Figure 3, a knurled handle 88 is provided, with the help of which the

Threaded pin 86 is movable in the threaded hole 84. The threaded pin 86 is supported in a clamping point 90 on a wall section of the upper part section 34. This clamps the clamp 76 to the lower part section 24 and to the upper part section 34 so that they cannot come loose from one another, for example due to strong wind. This ensures that the awning section 72 is reliably clamped in the receiving space 66.

In Figure 4, the element 38 for adjusting the length of the fastening device 10 is shown in more detail. The element 38 essentially has a leg 92 which faces the caravan and a leg 94 which faces the underside of the lower section 24. The leg 92 is supported in a support area 96 on the support 18 of the housing 12 on the caravan side. The leg 94 is connected to the lower section 24 via a bracket 98. For this purpose, the bracket 98 is slidably mounted in the groove 48 (see also Figure 2). The bracket 98 is connected to a threaded pin 100 which extends through an opening in the leg 94 (not shown in Figure 4) and at the end of which a wing nut 102 is received. By moving the bracket 98 in the groove 4 8 in the lower section 24, the element 3 8 for length adjustment can be moved until the back of the leg 92 rests on the caravan 2. The element 38 for length adjustment can then be fixed to the lower section 24 using the wing nut 102.

Claims (15)

1. Device for fastening a side wall tarpaulin ( 6 ) to an awning ( 4 ) of a caravan ( 2 ), mobile home or motor home, wherein the front and rear ends of the awning ( 4 ) are held on a holder ( 18 ) on the side of the car or on a holder ( 20 ) remote from the car, and the side wall tarpaulin ( 6 ) has a piping ( 44 ) or the like on at least one of its edges, wherein the device has a fastening device ( 10 ) with at least one upper part and at least one lower part, which can be fastened to the side edge of the awning ( 4 ) and in turn has a receptacle ( 42 ) for the piping ( 44 ) of the side wall tarpaulin ( 6 ), characterized in that the fastening device ( 10 ) is formed from at least two sections which can be fastened along the side edge of the awning ( 4 ), each of which has an upper part ( 34 , 36 ) and a lower section ( 24 , 26 ). 2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the lower sections ( 24 , 26 ) of the fastening device ( 10 ) are fastening rails with a rectangular cross section. 3. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that an upper part ( 34 , 36 ) and a lower part ( 24 , 26 ) are movably connected to one another via at least one connecting element ( 30 , 32 ). 4. Device according to claim 3, characterized in that the connecting element ( 30 , 32 ) is a joint or hinge. 5. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the receptacle for the piping ( 44 ) is a piping receiving groove ( 42 ). 6. Device according to claim 5, characterized in that one or two welt receiving grooves ( 40 , 42 ) are provided on the underside of the lower sections ( 24 , 26 ). 7. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the lower sections ( 24 , 26 ) can be connected to one another. 8. Device according to claim 7, characterized in that the lower sections have receptacles ( 46 ) for connecting elements ( 28 ). 9. Device according to claim 8, characterized in that a first section of a connecting element ( 28 ) can be fastened to or in a first lower section ( 24 ) and a second section of the connecting element ( 28 ) can be inserted into at least one adjacent lower section ( 26 ). 10. Device for fastening a side wall tarpaulin ( 6 ) according to the preamble of claim 1 and in particular according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that adjacent to the carriage-side ( 18 ) and/or carriage-remote holder ( 20 ) of the awning ( 4 ) on the fastening device ( 10 ), at least one element ( 38 ) for adjusting the length of the fastening device ( 10 ) is provided. 11. Device according to claim 10, characterized in that an element ( 38 ) for adjusting the length of the fastening device ( 10 ) is provided on the fastening device ( 10 ) adjacent to the carriage-side holder ( 18 ) and the carriage-remote holder ( 20 ) of the awning ( 4 ). 12. Device according to claim 10 or 11, characterized in that the at least one element ( 38 ) for length adjustment is substantially angular, wherein one leg ( 92 ) can be fastened to the underside of the lower part ( 24 ) and one leg ( 94 ) can be fastened to the carriage-side ( 18 ) and/or carriage-remote holder ( 20 ) of the awning ( 4 ). 13. Device according to claim 12, characterized in that the element ( 38 ) for length adjustment can be inserted and fixed in grooves ( 48 ) on the underside of the lower part ( 24 ). 14. Device for fastening a side wall tarpaulin ( 6 ) according to the preamble of claim 1 and in particular according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that at least one clamp ( 76 ) or the like is provided which can be fastened to a side wall of the lower part ( 24 ) and engages around the upper part ( 34 ). 15. Device according to claim 14, characterized in that the clamp ( 76 ) can be fastened in a groove ( 52 ) which is formed in a side wall of the lower part ( 24 ).
