Insulating and colored wrenches Technical area:

The invention is a further development of already known wrenches and similar tools (hereinafter referred to simply as wrenches) in order to achieve certain advantages over conventional solutions. Such advantages can be generated by a colored coating that can fulfill functions.

State of the art:

So far, only wrenches with a chrome-plated or galvanized surface coating are known. Stainless steel versions are also known.

Technical problems of conventional solutions:

The wrenches are difficult to distinguish because the size designations are always embossed in small letters. If there are several wrenches in a toolbox, finding the right wrench size always involves a lot of searching and time.

The keys feel cold to the touch, which is particularly unpleasant in winter.

The smooth metal surface is not slip-resistant and conducts electricity. This leads to an increased risk of accidents and injuries at work.

The noise pollution caused by wrenches falling onto stone floors is very loud and disturbing.

Tiles and other floor coverings can be damaged by dropped conventional wrenches.

The conventional metallic coating of wrenches or the production of them from stainless steel is cost-intensive.

When working on sensitive components such as painted parts on a vehicle or machine, unintentional impact with conventional wrenches can cause costly damage.

Objective to solve the problems:

The idea is to coat the wrenches in a way that solves as many of the problems described as possible.

Troubleshooting:

All problems described are solved by an electrically non-conductive plastic coating in various colors.

Example:

A conventional wrench without a coating is coated by dipping it into a liquid, colored mass that is rubbery when hardened. The color is chosen depending on the size of the wrench to be coated. The same wrench sizes then always correspond to the same assigned colors. The size color coding is therefore clear. The end customer receives a color table with a list of the corresponding wrench sizes for the complete wrench set. After a short period of getting used to it, the corresponding wrench size can now be recognized and used immediately at first glance without a long search. Padding the wrench to protect against paint damage, for example in a car repair shop, is no longer necessary, as the rubbery coating prevents damage to the paint when it is knocked against something.

The key size can be embossed into the coating, as well as a grip profile that improves handling.

The wrenches are easy to distinguish at first glance by their color and any embossed numbering. This results in cumulative time savings as there is no need for time-consuming searches for the right sizes.

The wrenches have a warmer surface, which is particularly pleasant in cold temperatures.

The rubber-like coating prevents rust and reduces the risk of slipping in damp or cold conditions.

The coating has an insulating effect against electrical current.

The risk of accidents and injuries is reduced when using the new wrenches.

The noise pollution caused by falling coated keys is eliminated.

The risk of damaging the floor covering by falling coated wrenches is eliminated.

Coating the wrenches with colored plastic is more cost-effective than conventional coatings.

There is no need for additional padding on wrenches when working on painted parts.

The risk of damaging painted or sensitive parts by hitting them with the newly coated wrench is minimized.

Open-end wrenches, ring spanners, sockets and other/similar size-divided tools, also special tools, hereinafter collectively referred to as wrenches, characterized by the fact that they are colored/designed depending on the size and this design is carried out by painting, spraying, dipping or surface coating. 2.
