1) Description of the basic design:

1.1.) The TABLE - CATAPULT - system,

The basic version consists of a plastic-coated wooden board.

A "starter block" of approx. 4.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm (L x B x H) with a small hole in the lower front part. For the catapult rubber to pass through. In addition, in front of the rubber on the outside, there is a hole of approx. 10 mm in the middle of the plate to easily fix the plastic balls (table tennis balls) before starting.

To convert the TABLE CATAPULT system from firing flying discs to the mode for plastic balls (table tennis balls), it simply has to be turned by 180 degrees.

1.2) Material for flying discs and plastic balls

2) Description of the changing game objectives:

The two game targets included in the basic version are made of cardboard material and fit into each other for transport.

Examples of game objectives

2.1) Game target for plastic balls (table tennis balls)

The packaging box is pulled apart and both halves are placed next to each other on the floor about 4 m away from the TABLE CATAPULT. Open at the top.

2.2) Game target for flying discs

The inner box has several large holes on the lid side. Their diameter is approximately three times that of the flying discs used. This makes it easier to shoot the discs.

Examples of implementation

3.1) Playing with flying discs

Each player (in the basic version, 3 players) receives the same number of color-coded flying discs. So each player has their own color. Then the game begins. From the set up TABLE CATAPULT systems, each player shoots their flying discs from the A half of the systems at the closed but set up cardboard box with the holes in the lid. The lid should ideally be in front of the players.

Once every player has used up all of their discs, the game is over. The box is opened and the player who finds the largest number of flying discs in their color inside is the winner. There are then hit points for the second or third "winner".

The overall winner is the person who has achieved the most points after a previously agreed number of games.

3.2) Play with plastic balls (table tennis balls)

As before, each player receives the same number of marked plastic balls. The TABLE CATAPULT system is turned to the "plastic balls" mode, with the B half pointing towards the target. The two cardboard halves of the former outer packaging box that are open at the top now serve as the game target.

As in example 3.1, after all the plastic balls have been shot, the winner is the person who has landed the most of his marked balls in the boxes. Otherwise, the same rules apply for the overall winner as in 3.1.

4) Summary

The game consists on the one hand of a movable, plastic-coated wooden board approx. 50 x 24 cm x 3 to 10 mm thick.

Divided into A and B halves. Each has two pins or screws in the front area, which are mounted parallel to the sides. A catapult rubber is stretched between them.

Flying discs of approximately 3 cm x 3 to 5 mm thick, made of different materials, can be fired from the A half.

Also on the B half, pins or screws and a catapult rubber. Additionally, in the middle there is a starter block approx. 4.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm (L x W x H) to be able to shoot plastic balls using the kinetic energy imparted. On this half in front of the rubber in the middle there is a hole approx. 10 mm to be able to center the plastic balls easily before firing.

In order to be able to use the TABLE - CATAPULT system described above alternately, the wooden plate is rotated by 180 degrees.

The target for the table tennis balls consists of the opened outer packaging box. The target for the flying discs consists of another box whose lid has holes suitable for the flying discs.

The winner of the game is the person who can land the most flying discs or plastic balls in their markings on the targets.

The flying discs are preferably made of wood, plastic or metal. Diameter approx. 3 cm, thickness approx. 3 to 5 mm. The plastic balls are preferably table tennis balls.

4.3) Objective:

To design a simple and safe table catapult toy for all ages.

With this you can shoot both flying discs and plastic balls at different game targets without having to convert them.

4.4) Solution:

A predominant use of natural materials, coupled with conventional play objects whose harmlessness is known.

Claims (9)

1. A small plastic-coated wooden board. Lengthwise approx. 50 cm × 24 cm and 3 to 10 mm thick. Divided lengthwise into A and B halves. The board has 2 pins or screws on the outside, parallel to each other, on the front part of the A half and the front part of the B half. So a total of 4 pins or screws. 2. A catapult gun is stretched between each of the two pins or screws. 3. On the A-half, the catapult rubber is used to shoot flying discs made of wood, plastic or metal 4. Diameter of the flying discs: approx. 3 cm and up to 5 mm thick. 5. In the middle of the catapult rubber on the B half there is a small starting block.
