A. State of the art

The invention relates to a children's bib or a bib for people of all ages who are not always able to safely bring cutlery to their mouths when eating. Such a device is known, for example, as a bib for use when eating and/or feeding children and sick people or people in need of care. The bibs known from the prior art have a protective section in the form of a piece of fabric by which at least the area of clothing to be protected from contamination, i.e. usually the chest area, can be covered. The known bibs further have a fastening section in the form of laces or similar arrangements with which the bib can be tied around the neck of the child or the sick person or person in need of care.

Bibs are designed to prevent food or liquids from getting onto the clothing of children or those in need of care. Conventional bibs only cover part of the child's or person's clothing. Today, there are various types of bibs and items designed to fulfill this purpose. There are bibs that are pulled over the entire child like a sweater and are designed to prevent any contamination. There are bibs that have a collecting tray or container to prevent food from spilling onto the floor, and other designs. The state of the art is described, among other things, in US-2008/172768 describe. The EP 2 729 028 B1 describes a product that is intended to achieve a similar effect to the product described here. B. The problem underlying the invention

Due to the nature of regular bibs, food often falls onto the floor between the feeder and the table/high chair. This also soils the feeder's clothing—especially the lower body and pants. This problem is especially evident with liquid foods such as soups, cereals with milk, porridge, yogurt, and the like.

Existing standard solutions either cannot solve this problem at all or only inadequately. The solutions specially designed for this problem are either very complex and extensive or do not offer sufficient protection against soiling of the type described above. Especially when caring for people in need of assistance or children, efficiency and avoiding additional work steps are important. It is also important to develop an aesthetically pleasing solution which does not, through its external appearance, give the impression that it is more of a work step than a leisurely dinner. Furthermore, neither the surface of the table nor the objects on it, such as cups, plates or bowls, should be damaged by the bib. Here there is a risk that objects on the table could tip over or fall if the eater comes into contact with the bib.

C. Problem solving

The approach is to address the problem described above with the simplest and most visually appealing solution possible. The focus is not on 100% cleanliness – rather, it is a cost-effective solution. This is intended to achieve a significant reduction in mess when eating with as little visible effort as possible. To achieve this, the so-called "Klappchen" (the utility model described here) is provided with a hook-and-loop fastener or a magnet and used together with its counterpart. The counterpart is attached to the underside of the table or highchair using adhesive tape or something similar. This allows the user to connect the bib to the table if necessary to completely close the gap between the table and the person eating. The "Klappchen" is large enough to form a hollow that serves to collect food and liquids. Unlike other solutions, however, the eating area of the person eating is not restricted in any way.
