Die zur Verfügung stehende Fläche wird dabei nur zu maximal 85% ausgenutzt, was bedeutet das besonders bei nicht vollständig beschriebenen Datenträgern ungenutzte Bereiche auftreten. Diese Bereiche befinden sich um das mittige Zentrierloch (4) sowie im Randbereich, außerhalb des genutzten Datenbereichs (6). Falls eine vollständige Kompatibilität mit gängigen Laufwerken gewünscht wird, ist dabei eine maximale Stärke von 1,2 mm einzuhalten.
