A clamping plate secures e.g. staircase components, roof-mounted snow retainer fences, and solar modules on metal roofs. Each clamping plate has two shanks (3.2, 4.2), the second of which has a strip (4.3) with an undercut that engages with the distal end (2.3) at the end of a sheet metal (1) strip (2.1).
