Abstract

A human or animal prosthetic invertebral disc implant (24) consists of first (26) and second (28) implants with a pivoting section (30). The first implant section (26) has sections (32, 34) that rest in contact with the adjacent vertebrae. The second implant (28) has pivoting sections (36, 38) that also rest in contact with the adjacent vertebrae. Only the second section (28) embraces the pivot (30), thereby allowing the movement between the first and second sections (36, 38). Also claimed is an implant system.
