Abstract

Synchronous mechanism (1) comprises a base support (2) arranged on a chair column, a seat or seat support (4) and a backrest support (5). The backrest support pivoting about a transverse axis is directly connected to the base support of the seat or seat support on one side and to a rear end region (17) of the seat or seat support. Pivoting movement of the backrest induces a lowering movement of the rear region of the seat support. Preferred Features: In the base position the ratio of the horizontal component of the hinge distance to the vertical component of the hinge distance is 0.6-1.7. The seat or seat support is connected on its front end region to the base support via a three-plate hinge.
