Abstract

The bed (1) or bench is fitted with telescopic bars (2) at its four corners and an electric drive (3) attached to the transversal elements (4) between the legs (2) for lifting and lowering the sleeping area by extending the bars (2) with a spindle mechanism. The electric drive (3) is controlled with a foot pedal (5) comprising two separately controlled segments (5.1, 5.2). One segment (5.1) is used for activating the lifting or lowering mechanism, the second (5.2) initiates a stop function when the lowered area is moved across a limit, threatening to squash the foot of the user.
