Abstract

The brake servo has a fixed wall (2) through the middle of the housing, separating two moving walls (3, 4) with the moving walls joined by a spacer tube (7). The tube is stepped and has its smaller diameter passing through the fixed wall. This increases the effective area of the moving walls by an amount equal to the difference in the tube diameters. The operating piston (9) is located in the wider section of tube. The servo provides an improved braking effect with a minimum of alteration. The moving walls are connected to the housing by rolling membranes (5, 6).
