The invention relates to a packaging unit for an insulating product made of mineral wool as a roll or plate package according to the preamble of claim 1, which is surrounded by packaging material made of film, paper or the like, wherein at least one carrying aid is arranged on the outside of the packaging material, which enables the user to reach underneath. The invention further relates to a web-shaped packaging material for wrapping the packaging unit according to the preamble of claim 14. ""'■

To protect against environmental influences and for transport, mineral wool insulation products, especially insulation sheets wound up in rolls or packages stacked into panels, have a thin film-like packaging that covers the product on almost all sides and creates a smooth surface with only limited grip options for the user. Such commercially available packaging units have dimensions that are difficult to grasp with one arm and are therefore very unwieldy and bulky. Transporting individual packaging units, preferably by hand, is therefore not ergonomically optimal.

DE 299 13 624 Ul shows a packaging unit for a mineral wool product wound up as a roll with a carrying aid that is arranged on the outside of the packaging unit and allows a user to reach underneath. The carrying aid is a strip that is connected to the outside of the casing by gluing or sealing, the connection being interrupted in at least one carrying area intended for the user to reach underneath.

WO 99/38784 A1 shows a packaging unit for a roll-shaped mineral wool product. Two rolls are each surrounded by a sack as packaging material in which the two rolls are compressed and the open ends of the sack are directed towards each other so that two rolls are completely covered and form a stacking element. Separating perforations are provided at the connection points of the two rolls for unpacking a single

Roll. The closed ends of a bag also have handles for removing the bag from the roll. Several double packages can also be combined to form a large package.

US 3,013,655 shows a packaging unit for a roll-shaped product. The packaging unit forms a cuboid-shaped body that is completely covered with a web-shaped packaging material. A carrying aid in the form of a longitudinal strip for gripping underneath is glued to the sides of the body in the longitudinal direction between overlapping corners, which is previously applied to the packaging material.

The solutions known from the state of the art have the disadvantage that the carrying aid arranged and attached to a packaging unit must be applied separately to the packaging unit or to the packaging material in an additional work step. This results in an additional work step as well as additional material consumption and disposal costs. Such carrying aids are also difficult to fix laterally after they have been attached. When layers and/or stacks of the packaging units are formed, a stack or layer of a packaging unit formed in this way becomes unstable due to the attachment of carrying aids to the outside of the packaging unit.

It is the object of the invention to provide a packaging unit with a carrying aid, in particular for hand transport, which avoids the disadvantages of the known arrangements.

The object is achieved by the packaging unit according to the preamble of claim 1 in that the carrying aid is an integral component of the packaging material and the material has means for forming the carrying aids. The web-shaped packaging material for wrapping the packaging unit according to the invention is characterized in that opening aids for forming carrying aids are arranged in the material on the surface of the web at the intended locations of the carrying aid.

The invention is based on the idea of preparing a packaging material in such a way that the carrying aid becomes an integral part of the

packaging material and does not have to be applied in an additional work or production step.

The packaging material for insulation products according to the invention can be processed using conventional packaging machines. After application, the material forms a closed primary packaging for the insulation products in rolls or packages. If a carrying aid is required for the packaging unit, an opening aid prepared in this way can be formed into a carrying aid.

Opening aids for shaping the carrying aid are arranged in the material at the designated locations on the surface of a web-shaped packaging material. This allows the carrying aids to be positioned precisely at the designated locations on the primary packaging. The integrated carrying aid can no longer slip. The connection is permanently fixed and cannot be removed, like conventional adhesive or other types of connection between the primary packaging and subsequently attached handles.

The invention can also be used particularly advantageously in the formation of packaging units for layering and stacking. Several packaging units which are wrapped in the above-mentioned primary packaging are almost exclusively stacked on a base (pallet) by the manufacturer and combined with a first outer packaging - the so-called secondary packaging to form one or more layers. The layers are stacked on top of each other and wrapped with another outer packaging - the so-called tertiary packaging to form a so-called large container and made ready for shipping. A large container can contain up to 24 or 30 packaging units, the dimensions of which are determined by the trade. By using the packaging material as primary, secondary or tertiary packaging, handles can be provided and arranged for each element in the packaging unit without additional work and production effort. The packaging material does not add much weight to the layering or the large container, so that the stability when stacked to form a large container is hardly affected.

The machines used for layer and stack formation can still be used.

The packaging materials for the secondary and tertiary packaging used can also be prepared in advance with the integrated handles. This means that the packaging units created in this way can be provided with handles without any additional effort, which can be transported either by hand or with a means of transport, such as a forklift. This means that not only individual packages or rolls are easy to handle, but also individual layers or entire large containers.

In the packaging unit according to the invention, the opening aids are advantageously formed by suitable cuts, perforations and tear lines on the outside of the packaging material, which are arranged as strips in the packaging material. The strip formation by means of incisions can be arranged either transversely to the web direction of the packaging material or in the web direction. Depending on the arrangement selected, the number, spacing and length of the carrying handle are determined, which can be variably applied in advance in the packaging material using appropriate manufacturing means. To improve carrying comfort, the strips can be shaped in such a way that a special carrying aid in the form of a plastic or wooden bracket can be hung on the strips or otherwise attached. The strips or openings in the packaging material can also be of such a length that two carrying points, which are provided for the edge areas of the packaging unit, for example, are of such a length that the product can be carried on the shoulder or as a backpack, which can significantly improve carrying comfort.

There are various possible variations for the arrangement of the handles, which can be determined in advance by preparing the packaging film. This applies to the design of the insulation product as packages, where the handles are provided either on one or both ends of the package. The film material used as packaging material is provided with strips at the designated places for this purpose. When wrapping with the

Material only needs to be ensured that these spots are arranged at the desired locations on the surface of the package.

In the case of roll arrangements of the insulation product, the enveloping film material must be provided with the appropriate strips in advance depending on the position of the desired handles on the surface of the packaging material.

The packaging material is advantageously wound up as a film on a roll. To package the product, the film can be pulled off the roll and cut to the dimensions of the product and used for packaging purposes. In particular for directly wrapping the product in primary packaging, it is also advantageous if the side of the film facing the product has an adhesive layer. The packaging material then lies firmly against the product (roll or sheet package). Overlapping points of the film web can easily be glued or welded together. With the integrated handles, the packaging unit is not only very easy to handle, but several such packaging units can be formed into layers with sufficient stability, or stacked with other packaging units.

At the intended carrying points, the web-shaped material can advantageously be free of adhesive points to improve wearing comfort. These points can also be covered with a covering made of paper, cardboard or similar material as reinforcement. A particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention is when the packaging material has a tear-out area. This area can be designed as a perforation line, a cut or a welded tear line that marks openings on the packaging unit at the points intended for the carrying points.

The formation of carrying handles or grips for the packaging unit integrated into the packaging material can also be advantageously achieved by running a narrow band between the insulation product and the packaging material during the wrapping of the product. On the machine intended for packaging, the band can either run inside at the intended carrying points together with the prepared packaging material or it can

is applied in advance to an adhesive point on the packaging material and then wrapped around the product. These points are thus covered from the inside. The carrying strap is automatically fixed in its side position at the weld seam for the packaging material. After opening the designated area, a user can pull the strap out of the packaging material using a carrying aid or a handle. The inserted or glued strap is preferably a thin plastic strap, which does not significantly dent the surface of the packaging unit and therefore does not negatively affect the ability to stack several packaging units.

The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawings, using several embodiments.

The production of an insulation product is carried out by mixing mineral wool with a binding agent, hardening it in a curing oven and then

Continuous web with a width of approximately 1.20 m is present. The web 1 has a thickness of approximately 10 to 30 cm. For shipping, depending on requirements, either the web 1 is rolled up into a roll 2, as can be seen from Fig. la and Fig. 1b, or individual panels 3 are cut from the web 1, with several panels layered on top of each other forming a package 4, as shown in Fig. 2a and 2b. The insulation product is then completely wrapped by special packaging machines (not shown) with a packaging material 5 on the long surfaces of the product. The side surfaces, however, both in the roll 2 and in the package 4, are usually not completely covered by the packaging material. This packaging is referred to as primary packaging 6 to distinguish it from other outer packaging which comprises individual layers or their stacking. The packaging material 5 consists of a web-shaped material made of a plastic film or a paper web. The material used has a corresponding elasticity, which provides sufficient strength and elasticity for both compression of the unpackaged material and compression by the primary packaging. Such a film wrapping is usually adhesive on one side, so that the film is cut to the required length and the packaging unit is surrounded by the material in a self-adhesive manner.

As can be seen from Fig. la and 1b, the web 1 is rolled up into a roll 2. Due to the web width, commercially available rolls have a side length of approximately 1.20 m and a diameter of approximately 0.4 m to 0.65 m. The fully rolled up roll 2 is - as can also be seen from Fig. la - wrapped in a specially prepared packaging material 5 in the form of the primary packaging 6. The packaging material 5 is supplied as a rolled up film roll, is unrolled and cut to the required length for the mineral wool product to be packaged. On the surface 7 of the packaging material 5, parallel cuts 15 are arranged at regular intervals in the middle of the primary packaging 6, transverse to the web direction of the packaging material 5, with two parallel cuts 15 forming a strip 9. After wrapping the roll 2, the strip 9 can be formed into a handle 8, with which a wrapped roll 2 can be transported either by hand or with a carrying device. The distance between the strips 9 on

the packaging material 5 to each other corresponds to approximately half the distance of the circumference of the roll 2 of the insulation material, so that the roll 2 is provided with two opposing handles 8. The strip 9 for forming the handles 8 is arranged in the middle and transversely to the web direction of the packaging material. The packaging unit can be formed into layers and stacked with other units packaged in this way in further manufacturing processes (not shown), without the handle 8 integrated in the primary packaging negatively affecting the stability of the individual layers or that of the stacking units.

In the further descriptions of the figures, identical components with identical functions are given identical reference symbols.

Fig. 6a to 6h show further packaging units which, corresponding to Fig. 1a and 1b, are formed from rolls 2 and are wrapped in a primary packaging 6 and have different arrangements of handles 8 and their manufacture. The handles 8 are formed by strips 8 which are formed by parallel cuts 15 (Fig. 6a, Fig. 6b), by perforation 11 (Fig. 6d, Fig. 6e) and by the arrangement of tear thread 13 on the surface of the prepared packaging material 5. As an alternative to the strips 8, pairs of openings 12 are provided in further illustrations (Fig. 6c and 6f). The pair spacing 12 of the individual openings can be formed into a handle, or a carrying handle can be hung in a pair.

In the punching arrangement 14 of the strips in Fig. 6a, the strips 9 are not arranged in the middle, but on the side edges 10 in the direction of the web. Each packaged roll 2 thus has two opposing handles 8 on the side edges 10, which are arranged on one side with which the roll 2 can be carried manually or with a carrying device. Fig. 6b has only one strip 9 transverse to the web 2. The illustration therefore corresponds to that in Fig. 1b.

Fig. 6d differs from Fig. 6a in that the strips 9 are not formed by cuts 15, but by perforations 11. Further perforation formations can be seen in Fig. 6e, in which the perforations 11 form a strip in the middle of the roll 2 transversely to the web 2. The perforation formation has the advantage over the cut formation according to Fig. 6a and 6b that the

Longitudinal surfaces of the packaging unit are almost completely protected against weather influences such as moisture ingress.

Improved protection against the effects of weather on the insulation material is achieved by forming the strips 9 using a tear thread 13 as shown in Fig. 6g and 6h. A thread 13 is welded into the places provided for the strips 9 in the packaging material 5. By pulling this tear thread 13, the strips for the intended handle 9 are formed on the surface 7 of the packaging material. Fig. 6g has two opposite handles 8. The tear threads 13 are each arranged on the side edges 10 of the roll 2. '

Fig. 6c and 6f show the formation of the handles 8 by arranging pairs of openings 12 at the distance of the handle 8 to be formed. These openings can be formed by punching out, by perforations or in the form of tear threads. The distance between the openings corresponds approximately to the distance between individual fingers of a human hand that can grasp the packaging unit, or special carrying devices can be suspended in the openings.

Another embodiment of the packaging unit as a roll 2 is shown in Fig. 3a and 3b. The packaging material 5 has cutouts 14 on its side edges 10, which have the shape of the handles 8, as can be seen in Fig. 3a. After the primary packaging has been wrapped (Fig. 3b), the handles 8 thus formed are bent up from the horizontal to the vertical and are available as handles 8 (Fig. 3b) for transporting the roll 2. If the cutouts 14 are not used as handles 8, they can be attached to the side of the roll 2 provided with the primary packaging 6 using adhesive films. This makes it possible to layer and stack such packaging units without impairing their stability.

In the following, examples of packaging units are described which consist of individual panels 3 which, when stacked on top of each other, form packages 4 which are used, for example, for insulating house facades. Due to the manufacturing process, the panels 3 have a length of approximately 1.25 m and a width of approximately 0.40 m to 1.20 m, depending on the intended use of the insulation panel.

During production, the mineral wool product, which is available as a continuous web 1, is cut into individual panels 3 and stacked on top of each other.

In Fig. 2a, 8 such plates 3 are stacked on top of one another and are wrapped in a web-shaped packaging material 5. The packaging material 5 has pairs of openings 12 on its surface 7 in the direction of the web on the side edges 10, which are arranged at regular distances from one another on the packaging material. At the distance of the side surface of an individual package 4, the prepared packaging material 5 is severed transversely to the web and the package 4 is wrapped with the material on its longitudinal surfaces. Due to the distance between the pair of openings 12 on the packaging material 5, a pair of openings 12 is arranged on the side edges 10 of a package. These pairs of openings form finger openings for the fingers of a human hand and can therefore be used as handles 8 for the packaging unit, or special handles can be attached to the pairs of openings 12.

Fig. 4 a and b show a similar arrangement of a packaging unit as was already described in the description of Fig. 3a and 3b, but for the packaging of a package 4. The preparation of the packaging material 5 with cutouts 14 on the side edges 10 of the packaging material 5 is shown. The cutouts are provided in the form of handles 8, which can be folded up from the horizontal to the vertical position after the package 4 has been wrapped, as can be seen from Fig. 4b.

Fig. 5a to 5h show different arrangements of the handles 8 in the package packaging, as well as their manufacture, either as strips 9 (Fig. 5a to 5f) or as pairs of openings 12 for finger grip, as can be seen from Fig. 5g and 5h. The strip formation is formed, as already explained in the corresponding figure description of the roll packaging in the illustrations in Fig. 6, either by cuts 15 along the strips that form the handle 8 (Fig. 5a, Fig. 5d), by perforations 11 (Fig. 5b, Fig. 5e) or by a tear thread 13 welded into the packaging material 5 (Fig. 5c, Fig. 5f). The packaging units shown correspond essentially to the embodiments already described in Fig. 6a to Fig. 6h.

Another embodiment of an integrated carrying aid for an insulation product can be seen in Fig. 7a and 7b. The packaging material 5 wound up in web form has a strip 9 in the middle of its surface 7, which is arranged in the direction of the web and otherwise corresponds to an embodiment already described. The prepared packaging material 5 is intended as primary packaging 6 for an insulation product wound up as a roll 2. In the area of the handles 8, a band 16 covering the strips 9 runs in on the side intended for the inside of the packaging material 5 and underlies the strips 9. When the packaging material 5 is cut to size, the band is cut off after wrapping a roll 2 and fixed circumferentially by the primary packaging 6 through the adhesive edge of the packaging. By tearing open the strips 9 on the primary packaging 6, the incoming band 16 becomes visible. By pulling out at the points where the strips 9 are arranged, the pulled out band 16 can be formed into a handle 8.

The packaging unit according to the invention and the packaging material according to the invention used for the unit were described using the example of a roll or a package packed with primary packaging. However, the invention goes beyond this application. The invention is also applicable to mineral wool products formed into layers or stacks from several rolls or packages and to their packaging. The handle described in the description of the figures can be used not only for manual transport as a handle, but also as a carrying device for a means of transport, such as a forklift or other lifting equipment.

Claims (20)

1. Packaging unit for an insulating product made of mineral wool as a roll ( 2 ) or panel package ( 3 , 4 ) which is surrounded by packaging material ( 5 ) made of film, paper or the like, wherein at least one carrying aid ( 8 ) is arranged on the outside of the packaging material ( 5 ), which allows the user to reach underneath, characterized in that the carrying aid ( 8 ) is an integral part of the packaging material ( 5 ), and the material ( 5 ) has means ( 9 , 12 , 14 , 15 ) for shaping the carrying aids ( 8 ). 2. Packaging unit according to claim 1, characterized in that the means ( 9 , 12 , 14 , 15 ) comprise suitable cuts ( 15 ), punched-outs ( 14 ), perforations ( 11 ) and tear lines or tear threads ( 13 ) in the packaging material ( 5 ), which form strips ( 9 ) or opening aids in the material ( 5 ). 3. Packaging unit according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the packaging material ( 5 ) is wound onto a film roll with an adhesive layer directed towards the inside, wherein the material ( 5 ) is free of adhesive points or has a cover at the intended support points. 4. Packaging unit according to one or more of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that reinforcing elements for improved wearing comfort are arranged at the carrying points provided for gripping underneath. 5. Packaging unit according to one or more of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the carrying aid has handles ( 8 ) for handling the packaging unit. 6. Packaging unit according to one or more of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that a band ( 16 ) is arranged at the supporting points provided for gripping between the insulating product and the packaging material ( 5 ), which band can be pulled out from the surface ( 7 ) of the packaging material ( 5 ) and can be formed into a handle ( 8 ). 7. Packaging unit according to claim 6, characterized in that the band ( 16 ) comprises a plastic band with a tensile strength sufficient for carrying and has a width of 1 cm to 10 cm and the surface ( 7 ) of the packaging unit only insignificantly dents. 8. Packaging unit according to one or more of claims 1 to 2, characterized in that the carrying aid ( 8 ) is arranged transversely to the longitudinal direction of the packaging unit. 9. Packaging unit according to one or more of claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the carrying aid ( 8 ) is arranged in the longitudinal direction of the packaging unit. 10. Packaging unit according to one or more of claims 1 to 9, characterized in that several carrying aids ( 8 ) are arranged on a peripheral surface of a unit. 11. Packaging unit according to claim 10, characterized in that the carrying aids ( 8 ) have different distances and/or lengths from one another. 12. Packaging unit according to one or more of claims 1 to 11, characterized in that the carrying aid ( 8 ) is arranged on at least one end face of a unit. 13. Packaging unit according to one or more of claims 1 to 12, characterized in that at least one opening aid has such a length that it can be grasped by the arm of a user when carried on the shoulder. 14. Web-shaped packaging material for wrapping a packaging unit according to one or more of claims 1 to 13, characterized in that opening aids ( 9 , 11 , 12 , 13 ) for forming carrying aids ( 8 ) in the material ( 5 ) are arranged on the surface ( 7 ) of the web at the intended locations of the carrying aids ( 8 ). 15. Packaging material according to claim 14, characterized in that tear aids or tear threads ( 13 ) for tearing open strips ( 9 ) perpendicularly and/or transversely to the web ( 1 ) are arranged at the intended location of the carrying aid. 16. Packaging material according to claim 14, characterized in that cuts ( 15 ) for the user to grip underneath are arranged at the intended locations of the carrying aid ( 8 ) perpendicularly or transversely to the web. 17. Packaging material according to claim 14, characterized in that the surface ( 7 ) of the material ( 5 ) has perforations ( 11 ) at the intended locations of the carrying aid ( 8 ). 18. Packaging material according to claim 17, characterized in that the perforations ( 11 ) form strips ( 9 ) for tearing out handles ( 8 ). 19. Packaging material according to one or more of claims 14 to 18, characterized in that the perforations ( 11 ) form openings in the material ( 5 ) which are underlain by a band ( 16 ) arranged between the mineral wool product and the packaging material ( 5 ). 20. Packaging material according to one or more of claims 14 to 19, characterized by the use as outer packaging for several packaging units formed into layers and/or stacks.
