When storing books in conventional slipcases, there is no way to remove individual books without potentially damaging them. You either have to tip out several books to remove one, or there is a risk that the dust jackets will tear or the book itself will tear at the fold. Conventional slipcases also do not offer any way to label the contents.

When storing and displaying individual books or book collections openly on shelves, it is often unavoidable that when one or more books are removed, the books in the surrounding area tip over or even fall off the shelf. This is particularly true if the books are in two rows (one behind the other) on the shelf and you try to get to the back row, which requires you to take several books from the front row off the shelf. This process may have to be repeated several times, as you cannot immediately see where the books you are looking for are in the second row. Books can become scratched and bent by falling over and/or falling out frequently, causing them to lose value.

The invention specified in the protection claim is therefore based on the problem of creating a possibility for storing books, simplifying the removal of books without damaging individual books and enabling sorting according to various aspects by means of a labelling option.

The problems mentioned are solved with the features listed in the protection claim, namely a book box with an open drawer and a labelling field.

The ability to store books in book boxes that can be placed on a shelf prevents individual books from falling over when a book box is removed. Book boxes can be easily removed to get to the back row of the shelf.

The possibility of placing books in a book box (Fig. 1) prevents surrounding books from falling over when individual books are taken out, since there is only a certain number of books in each book box.

Pre-drilled holes (4) in the back wall of the book box also offer the possibility of attaching the book box to a wall without having to resort to a shelf.

The base of the book box (8) is raised slightly and placed inside the side walls so that it does not serve directly as a base. Only the side walls and the back wall of the book box serve as a base. This creates a hollow space between the base of the book box and the sides/back walls that serve as a base, in which strips (7) can be placed between the bottom of the base and the side walls of the book box to reinforce the base.

The raised base provides enough height to attach a label field (1) to the front of the drawer, which bridges the difference between the base of the book box and the support surface and covers the hollow space between the base of the book box and the support surface when the drawer is pushed in.

The label field allows books to be sorted according to specific collection criteria. Finding specific books/book series is made easier.

The ability to pull books out of the book box using a drawer (Fig. 2) makes it easier to remove books from the book box without damaging the spine with your fingernails.

Because the drawer has no back wall, the two books next to each other can easily be pushed back a little with your fingers so that you can easily remove the book you want. If the bottom of the drawer and the bottom of the book box are the same depth, when you push the drawer back, the books that have been pushed back are automatically pushed back into their old place by the back wall of the book box and stand neatly next to each other.

The drawer can be easily pulled out of the book box thanks to a finger grip (5) in the bar provided for the label field.

The side walls (6) attached to the drawer prevent the covers of the books on the outside from being abrasive and falling out when the drawer is pushed back and forth.

To avoid the risk of injury and accidental falling out of the drawer, a simple holding system is installed between the bottom of the drawer (8) and the bottom of the book box (9) (Fig. 3 - 6).

A bracket (2) attached to the rear underside of the drawer, which runs in a groove (3) sawn into the bottom of the book box and stops at the end, prevents the drawer from falling out.

Depending on the size of the book and/or publisher, book boxes can be made in different sizes. Making the book box out of wood, e.g. 4mm chipboard, is no problem, and making it out of plastic, as is done with other storage containers, should not be a problem.

After extensive research in the patent office of the city of Stuttgart and a discussion with a lawyer from the inventors' advice service, during which no comparable patent application could be found, I would like to submit the book box with open drawer and labeling field mentioned in claim 1 for utility model registration.

Book box with open drawer and labeling field, characterized in that books are stored in a book box ( Fig. 1) and can be removed through an open drawer (without front panel and back) ( Fig. 2) which is provided with a labeling field ( 1 ).
