Auf den Scheiben werden entlang des Randes unterschiedliche Zahlen, Buchstaben, Symbole oder Bilder in einer dafür vorgesehenen Vertiefung aufgebracht. Anzahl und Abstände der Zahlen, Buchstaben, Symbole oder Bilder sind variabel.
Durch Drehen der Scheiben sollen Übereinstimmungen oder Kombinationen mit den angrenzenden Scheiben erreicht werden. Um ein leichtes Drehgen zu ermöglichen sind die Ränder aller Scheiben gerändelt/geriffelt.
Zur Justierung der Scheiben zueinander verfügt jede Scheibe zusätzlich zu ihrer mittigen Achse an ihrer Unterseite über eine Rasterung. Ein Kugel-Feder-Mechanismus arretiert das Raster mechanisch und akustisch in einer vorher berechneten Position. Turntable dice as a game of patience and skill
