Replaceable sanding disc

The invention relates to a replaceable grinding disc according to the preamble of the main claim.

For grinding, grinding discs are used in the industrial and craft sectors, which hold the sandpaper or abrasive cloth. These grinding discs consist of

They consist of a circular carrier disc onto which a padding disc is glued, which in turn holds the sandpaper or abrasive cloth - for example by means of a Velcro connection.

The cushion disc is provided with a central recess that accommodates the head of a bolt that extends through a central recess with a small diameter through the carrier disc. The shaft of this bolt is then inserted into the chuck of the grinding machine. Additional holes in the cushion and carrier disc serve to extract grinding dust.

The sanding discs are now mounted on the sanding machines by screwing a fastening screw into the shaft mounted on a motor.

However, since the shaft is suspended freely due to the wobbling motion it is intended to perform, centering the hole in a conventional sanding disc with the shaft and particularly tightening the fastening screw is considerably more difficult. If you want to fix the machine's free-running shaft with an open-end wrench, the bell for dust extraction, which fits tightly to the sanding disc, prevents access.

However, a special tool is usually used to grip the shaft and prevent it from twisting. However, since a user only has two hands, simultaneously manipulating the screw, the tool and the grinding disc, as well as holding the grinding machine if necessary, is a balancing act.

The invention has set itself the task of simplifying this. According to the invention, this is achieved by the features of the main claim. The subclaims give advantageous embodiments of the invention.

Because the grinding disc has a recess on the side facing away from the grinding surface that fits precisely with the drive of the grinding machine in question, the latter will no longer rotate when the fastening screw is tightened or loosened. Since many common machines are currently equipped with a hexagon drive (either with a diameter of 17.5 mm or 26.5 mm), such a grinding disc with a hexagon recess on the rear must only be offered in two sizes.

The invention is explained below with reference to a drawing.

The sanding disc, which is used to hold a sandpaper or abrasive cloth (not shown), consists of a circular carrier plate 10 which is provided with a central hole 12. The carrier plate

A cushioning disc 14 is glued to the disc 10, which holds the sandpaper or abrasive cloth on the surface facing away from the carrier disc 10. This cushioning disc 14 is provided with a central recess 16, which is intended to hold a screw head.

On the surface of the carrier disk 10 facing away from the cushion disk 14, a shaft receiving recess is provided centrally around the bore 12. This shaft receiving recess can be designed as a hexagonal socket for an output of the grinding machines available on the market, which prevents the drive shaft of the machine from twisting or the grinding plate from being dismantled.

The grinding disc can now be fitted with the appropriate hexagon socket, placed directly on the machine's shaft and secured with a screw through a central hole. A complicated process of holding the output with an open-end wrench, which is made very difficult by the extraction hood 20, as this blocks the view of the hexagon shaft 22 of the output and requires a bent open-end wrench, can now be omitted.

Otherwise, the grinding disc is attached to the machine as in the prior art by a central threaded pin or a screw 26 through a central hole in the grinding disc in a known manner.

Claims (4)

1. Replaceable sanding disc for holding sandpaper or sanding cloth, consisting of - a circular carrier plate ( 10 ) provided with a central bore ( 12 ) and - a cushioning disc ( 14 ) glued to the carrier disc ( 10 ), which receives the sandpaper or abrasive fabric on the surface facing away from the carrier disc ( 10 ) and is provided with a central recess ( 16 ) for receiving a bolt head, characterized by a non-circular recess ( 18 ) provided centrally around the bore ( 12 ) on the surface of the carrier disc ( 10 ) facing away from the cushion disc ( 14 ). 2. Replaceable grinding disc according to claim 1, characterized in that the recess ( 18 ) for receiving a hexagonal output of the motor of a grinding machine is designed as a hexagonal receptacle. 3. Replaceable grinding disc according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the recess ( 18 ) is dimensioned to accommodate an output with a diameter of 17.5 mm. 4. Replaceable grinding disc according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the recess ( 18 ) is dimensioned to accommodate an output with a diameter of 26.5 mm.
