Sitting bathtub

The invention relates to a sit-down bathtub made of plastic and/or metal, which comprises:

a tub body with a wall, a tub base and a door recess, whereby the wall merges into a flat and circumferential stiffening edge opposite the tub base, ■

- - one- molded to the body of the Wanaen, at a seat height

(Hl) seat with a backrest arranged at a height (H2) from the bottom of the tub, with the flat stiffening edge at a height (H2) from the seat,

- a water drainage opening located on the bottom of the tub,

- air supply lines,

- and a door that can be pivoted outwards and locked.

Such a sit-in bathtub can be seen, for example, in the company information sheet of Premier-Badaustattungen GmbH, Friedberg. The disadvantage of the well-known bathtub is that its interior depth, in particular the height of the backrest, is often not appropriate for the size of the person sitting in the bathtub and their physical condition. The capacity of the bathtub is insufficient for taller people, i.e. this is significantly limited by a relatively low maximum water level. In addition, the water splashes around

&iacgr;&ogr; around the bathtub if you handle the shower head carelessly.

The object of the invention is to design a novel sit-in bathtub in which the area above the seat is better adapted to the needs of the user, in particular of a sick or disabled person.

This task is solved by a bathtub of the type mentioned above, which is characterized in that

the ratio of the height (H2) to the seat height (Hl) is > 1, - and that the height (H2) is at least 4 0 cm.

It should be noted that the invention relates to both the corner and wall versions of the sit-in bathtub.

Preferably, the height (H2), i.e. the distance of the flat stiffening edge from the seat, is between 50 cm and 55 cm.

The angle of inclination α of the backrest to the seat should exceed 110°. In practice, this is in an angle range between 110° and 115°.

The proposed dimensions help to make the sit-in bathtub more comfortable for the user. The high backrest and the side walls that adjoin the backrest ensure good support and the possibility of filling the bathtub with water practically up to the shoulders of the adult sitting there, thus creating a "swimming sensation*.

It is advantageous to manufacture the air supply lines as one piece with the tub body. The air supply lines are preferably formed directly on the wall in such a way that they have a single air supply nozzle integrated with the tub body and several perforations directed towards the interior of the tub.

The perforations can be located on the bottom of the tub, on the seat or anywhere on the wall. The relatively high water level and the air bubbles of the so-called whirlpool improve the effectiveness of the hydrotherapy because the air bubbles do not act on the body at specific points, but rather on parts of it. This can loosen the muscles, stimulate circulation and relax the whole body.

In order to withstand the increased hydrostatic water pressure, the outwardly curved door is characterized by a particularly safe and rigid design. The rigidity of the door is improved by at least one horizontally running recess, which also fulfills another useful function. The recess formed on an inner shell of the door has a shelf for utensils and a strip-shaped, rounded handle. The handle is aligned with

the inner shell so that there are no inward-facing, protruding door elements that could compromise the safety of the person sitting in the bathtub.

Furthermore, the sit-in bathtub is provided with a schematically indicated closure 10, the parts of which are arranged outside the interior of the tub, as shown in Fig. 1, so that the closure cannot come into contact with the water standing in the tub.

Figures 1 and 5 show a corner sit-down bathtub 100 in the form of a tub body 1.1 provided with a deep recess, which has a wall 7, a tub base 4 and a seat 2. A door recess 6 tapering towards the base is arranged on the wall 7 for hanging a door 3 (see Figures 3 and 4). The tub body 1.1 and the door 3 are made of thermoplastics, in this case acrylic.

The corner sit-in bathtub 100 also includes two laterally suspended and mirror-symmetrically arranged cladding elements 16, which are indicated by dashed lines in Fig.3.

Furthermore, the wall 7 merges into an upper, flat and circumferential stiffening edge 17 opposite the tub bottom 4, the outer edges 27 of which are curved in the area of the suspension of the cladding elements at a radius R = 65 cm in the direction of the wall 7 (cf. Fig. 1).

The dimensions of the interior of the sit-in bathtub are essential for the invention. The flat stiffening edge 17 is at a height H2 = 52 cm from a seat surface 5, whereas the seat surface 5 is arranged at a height Hl = 48 cm from the tub floor 4. The seat 2 in turn merges into a backrest 8 inclined at an angle α = 112°, measured in a plane of symmetry E of the tub body.

As can be seen from Fig. 5, the water let into the sit-in bathtub reaches a maximum water level designated "20*", which in the present case is approximately 40 cm high, measured from the seat 2. The maximum water level 20 is limited by an overflow opening, not shown.

The sit-in bathtub is supported on a height-adjustable frame 25 (see Fig. 5), the lower, horizontally extending struts 26 of which are each inserted into a holder 9 which is also formed on the tub body 1.1. The holder 9 is designed in the form of a square tube.

The arched door 3 has a horizontally extending recess 12 with a shelf 13 for utensils such as soap, brush, etc., which is incorporated into an inner shell 23 of the door 3 (see Fig. 4) and which at the same time passes via an inner handle recess 24 into a rounded handle 11 which is flush with the inner shell 23. In addition, the door 3 is equipped with a stiffening and protective profile 19 attached to its upper outer edge.

Furthermore, Figures 5, 6 and 1 show the arrangement of the air supply lines 30, 31 (shown in dashed lines) and an air supply nozzle 15 which is connected to the air supply lines. The air supply lines 30, 31 are formed in the form of channels directly on the tub body, so that a special, complex pipe installation is superfluous.

The air supply lines are integrated into both the tub floor 4 and the seat 2 and are aligned with the curved perforations 18.1, 18.2 so that the incoming air can be partially distributed. In this case, the perforations 18.1, 18.2 each have a diameter of 2 mm. The arrangement of perforations contributes to the uniformity of the water massage.

Another embodiment of the sit-down bathtub (reference number 200) is shown in Fig.2. This differs from the described corner sit-down bathtub only by a rectangular outer contour 21 of the stiffening edge 17, which allows the bathtub to be placed against a wall or in a niche.

Claims (8)

1. Sitting bathtub ( 100 ; 200 ) made of plastic and/or metal, comprising: - a tub body ( 1.1 ; 1.2 ) with a wall ( 7 ), a tub bottom ( 4 ) and a door recess ( 6 ), the wall ( 7 ) merging into a flat and circumferential stiffening edge ( 17 ) opposite the tub bottom, - a seat ( 2 ) with a backrest ( 8 ) formed on the tub body and arranged at a seat height (H1) from the tub floor ( 4 ), the flat stiffening edge ( 17 ) being at a height (H2) from the seat ( 2 ) and the two heights (H1; H2) being perpendicular to the tub floor ( 4 ), - a water drainage opening ( 14 ) arranged on the bottom of the tub ( 4 ), - air supply lines ( 30 , 31 ), - and an outward-swinging, lockable door ( 3 ), characterized in that - the ratio of the height (H2) to the seat height (H1) is ≥ 1, - and that the height (H2) is at least 40 cm. 2. Sitting bath according to claim 1, characterized in that the height (H2) is 41 cm to 70 cm, preferably 50 cm to 55 cm. 3. Sitting bath according to claim 1, characterized in that the backrest ( 8 ) is arranged at an angle α ≥ 110° relative to the seat ( 2 ), measured in a plane of symmetry (E) of the bath body. 4. Sitting bath according to claim 1, characterized in that the door ( 3 ) has at least one horizontally extending recess ( 12 ) with at least one shelf ( 13 ) for utensils, which recess ( 12 ) is incorporated in an inner shell ( 23 ) of the door ( 3 ). 5. Sitting bath according to claim 4, characterized in that the trough ( 12 ) merges into a handle recess ( 24 ). 6. Sitting bath according to claim 5, characterized in that the handle recess ( 24 ) smoothly transitions into a strip-shaped, rounded handle ( 11 ) which is flush with the inner shell ( 23 ) of the door. 7. Sitting bath according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the air supply lines ( 30 , 31 ) are made in one piece with the tub body ( 1 ) and that they have perforations ( 18.1 ; 18.2 ) for the air supply to the interior of the bathtub. 8. Sitting bath according to claim 7, characterized in that the air supply lines ( 30 , 31 ) are connected to a single air supply nozzle ( 15 ) which is also manufactured in one piece with the tub body ( 1 ).
