DESCRIPTION

The invention relates to a device for attaching an umbrella to a bicycle, according to the preamble of claim 1.

To protect cyclists from the rain, there is waterproof rainwear, the main disadvantage of which is that you sweat a lot in it. There is also a plastic tarpaulin that you stretch from the luggage rack to the handlebars using tubular rods. The disadvantage is that it offers little protection from the rain from the side and from the front in windy conditions or from the wind.

The object of the invention is to provide a simple device for attaching a transparent, large umbrella which ensures significantly better protection from the rain.

This task is solved by a transparent, oval umbrella made of flexible material (carbon fiber), as well as an umbrella holder, which is very easily attached to the handlebar with a quick release or with 2 screws (see Fig. 1 to 3).

When not in use, the umbrella is rolled up and is always carried on the bike with the help of a cylinder and a handlebar; it is secured against theft by a U-lock.

The main advantages of this rain cover are:

a.) If it suddenly rains, you no longer need to wear rain gear (no more sweating!)

b.) the protection is mounted in a few seconds, c.) the umbrella can also be used without a bicycle, d.) it is hardly sensitive to wind, as it is close to the pivot point of the front wheel

is attached and thus does not exert any leverage on the handlebar, e.) in the event of sudden gusts of wind, the umbrella folds upwards and thus no longer exerts any force on the bicycle,

f.) a reflective edge makes the umbrella clearly visible in the dark, g.) the use of carbon fibers makes it practically indestructible during normal use and therefore has a very long service life.

Two embodiments of the invention are explained with reference to Figs. 1 to 7, as well as the attachment of the umbrella to the handlebars of the bicycle.

The main functions of the rain cover are shown in Fig. 1-7. When it starts to rain, the umbrella is pulled out of the transport holder and clamped onto the handlebar using the quick-release fastener as shown in Fig. 1.

In a design according to Fig. 2, it is simply plugged onto the permanently attached bracket and secured with a pin.

If sudden gusts of wind occur, the umbrella folds upwards and no longer offers any surface to attack.

After the rain has stopped, the umbrella is rolled up, placed in the transport holder and secured against theft with a U-lock.

Claims (5)

1. Device for holding an umbrella on the handlebars of a bicycle, characterized in that the umbrella is placed on the permanently mounted holder and secured with a screw. 2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the umbrella is attached to the handlebars of the bicycle with a quick-release fastener. 3. Device for transporting the umbrella when not in use, characterized in that a cylinder is attached to the handlebar through which the rolled-up umbrella is inserted. 4. Device for holding the umbrella tip when not in use, characterized in that the tip is inserted through a retaining bracket which is screwed to the front axle of the bicycle. 5. Rain cover, characterized in that it is made of carbon fiber and is transparent.
