Plugs with union nut-like screw sleeves are known per se and are used to secure electrical plug connections. In practice, many such plugs are often arranged next to one another, so that on the one hand the spatial proximity of the individual plugs to one another and on the other hand the electrical cables extending from them mean that there is limited space to tighten or loosen the union nut-like screw sleeves.

Until now, special pliers have been used as tools for loosening or tightening the screw sleeves, but their use is problematic due to the limited space, as mentioned above.

The present invention is based on the object of creating a tool of the generic type which is convenient and easy to handle, particularly in confined spaces with a large number of plugs arranged next to one another.

This object is achieved according to the invention by a ring-like key part provided with an axially continuous slot with an internal toothing corresponding to the knurling of screw sleeves, which is provided with radially projecting webs arranged offset to the slot.

Such a tool can be pushed laterally over the electric cable extending from a screw sleeve at a certain axial distance from the screw sleeve and then pushed axially onto the screw sleeve, whereby the internal teeth of the ring-like key part create a positive connection to the screw sleeve. The ring-like key part can then be easily turned using the radially projecting webs, thus enabling the respective screw sleeve to be easily loosened or tightened.

The tool can be relatively small overall and can therefore be easily carried by a technician at all times.

In the drawings, the reference numeral 1 designates a tool for loosening or tightening plugs 3 provided with union nut-like screw sleeves 2.

The tool 1 is designed as a ring-like key part 5 with an axially continuous slot 6 and is equipped with an internal toothing 7 corresponding to the knurling 4.

mk In addition, the tool 1 has offset to the slot 6 and radially

outwardly projecting webs 8 and 9. These webs 8 and 9 serve to actuate the tool 1 after it has been placed on a screw sleeve 2 to be loosened or tightened.

A cable 10 extends from the screw sleeve 2, whereby the slot 6 of the tool 1 makes it possible to slide the tool 1 laterally over the cable 10. The tool 1 is then moved axially until the internal toothing 7 is in positive engagement with the knurling 4 of the screw sleeve 2. The screw sleeve 2 can now be loosened or tightened by turning the tool 1, which is made considerably easier by the radially projecting webs 8 and 9.

In the embodiment shown, the web provided with the reference number 9 is extended in the axial direction and has at its second end a further, ring-like key part 5 with an axially continuous slot 6.

This design not only makes handling the entire tool 1 easier, but also creates the possibility of bringing the two ring-like key parts 5 into alternate engagement with a screw sleeve 2 that is to be loosened or tightened. This possibility is advantageous because, depending on the direction of rotation - loosening or tightening - of the tool 1, a sufficient

A sufficiently large angle of rotation is available, particularly when a cable 10 is in the swivel or twisting range of the tool 1. From a certain angle of rotation, the extended web 9 will rest against this cable 10 and prevent further rotation. By alternately placing the two 5· ring-like key parts 5, the largest angle of rotation range that can be used without hindrance can be selected.

The tool 1 is advantageously manufactured as a one-piece workpiece. It is advantageous to design the tool 1 as a one-piece die-cast part.

The continuous slots 6 in the respective key parts 5 are designed to be at least wide enough for a cable 10 to be guided laterally through these slots 6 without obstruction.

The webs 8 and 9 are advantageously slightly rounded at their front edges, which makes the handling of the tool 1 more comfortable.

Claims (6)

1. Tool for loosening or tightening plugs provided with union nut-like screw sleeves, the screw sleeves being provided with knurling on the outside, characterized by a ring-like key part ( 5 ) provided with an axially continuous slot ( 6 ) with an internal toothing ( 7 ) corresponding to the knurling ( 4 ) of screw sleeves ( 2 ), which is provided with radially projecting webs ( 8 , 9 ) arranged offset to the slot ( 6 ). 2. Tool according to claim 1, characterized in that one of the webs ( 9 ) is extended in the axial direction and has at its other end a further, ring-like key part ( 5 ) with internal teeth ( 7 ) and an axially continuous slot ( 6 ). 3. Tool according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the webs ( 8 , 9 ) are each arranged offset by approximately 90 degrees with respect to the slot ( 6 ). 4. Tool according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the slot ( 6 ) or the slots ( 6 ) have a width which corresponds at least to the diameter of an electric cable ( 10 ). 5. Tool according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the tool ( 1 ) is formed in one piece. 6. Tool according to claim 5, characterized in that the tool ( 1 ) is designed as a one-piece die-cast part.
