The present invention relates to a drain grate for a floor drain comprising a drain plate with a number of drain holes through which water flows, for example, into a drain pipe, a drain pot or the like located under the drain grate. Drain grates of this type are used as floor drains, for example, in wet rooms such as laundry rooms, shower rooms or the like, with the floor area arranged around the drain grate usually being tiled. The drain grate itself is usually made of metal or plastic. The known drain grates for floor drains of the type mentioned are usually made of a uniform material and have no decorative design.

The object of the present invention is to create a drain grate for a floor drain of the type mentioned at the beginning, which is decoratively designed and can serve as an eye-catcher.

The solution to this problem is provided by a drain grate according to the invention of the type mentioned at the beginning with the characterizing feature of the main claim. According to the invention, there is a central area of the drain grate that has no drainage holes and in this central area a decorative plate is arranged that is visible towards the top. Such a decorative plate in the sense of the invention enables, for example, a color adaptation to the tiled surroundings of the drain grate or a decorative contrast to the tiles. The decorative plate gives the drain grate a high-quality appearance.

A decorative plate in the sense of the invention can consist, for example, of a ceramic material or of a semi-precious stone or a precious stone. Other decorative materials, in particular with a colored design, are also suitable.

There are many different ways of forming the outline of the decorative panel. For example, you can

Adapt the outline of the decorative plate to the shape of the drain grate itself. This means that if you have a square or rectangular drain grate, you use a decorative plate with a square or rectangular outline. The invention is of course not limited to such an embodiment. If the drain grate itself is round, it is advisable to use a round decorative plate so that the outline is repeated. However, the drain grate and/or the decorative plate can also be polygonal in outline, or a round decorative plate can be used for a rectangular drain grate, for example.

Depending on the design of the outline of the drain grate, the drain holes can also be designed in a wide variety of ways in terms of their outline and arrangement. For example, the drain holes can have a square, rectangular or angular outline, which is particularly suitable for square drain grates. The drain holes can also be partially ring-shaped slots, which are arranged, for example, with interruptions on concentric circles around the middle of the drain grate. This is particularly suitable for a drain grate with a round outline, in which case the decorative plate is preferably also round.

A drain grate according to the invention generally consists of a metal drain plate. It is preferable to use a decorative plate that contrasts with the metal color of this material, i.e. preferably a colored decorative plate that can be single- or multi-colored. The use of high-quality ceramic materials or, for example, semi-precious stones for the decorative plate gives the drain grate a particularly high-quality design.

The features mentioned in the subclaims relate to preferred developments of the present invention. Further advantages emerge from the detailed description below.

First, reference is made to Fig. 1. The illustration shows a drain grate for a floor drain, whereby only the drain grate, which is designated here with 10, is shown in plan view. The drain grate 10 has a number of drainage holes 11, which can, for example, be rectangular or square in outline and can be arranged in rows. An edge region 18 of the drain grate 10 is generally completely without drainage holes 11. According to the invention, a decorative plate 13 is located in a central region of the drain grate 10, which preferably consists of a different material than the drain grate itself. For example, the drain grate 10 consists of metal and the decorative plate 13 of semi-precious stone or ceramic. The decorative plate 13 is framed in the material of the drain grate.

To explain the edging of the decorative plate 13, reference is made to Figure 2, which shows the drain grate in section. In Figure 2, one can see the metal drain plate 12, which is cut in the area between the holes, as well as the centrally arranged decorative plate 13. To accommodate the decorative plate 13, the drain plate 12 has

a central recess 16, which approximately corresponds in outline to the decorative plate 13 and accommodates it. To attach the decorative plate 13, a plate-shaped support 14 is attached to the underside of the drain plate 12, on which the decorative plate 13 rests. The recess 16 accommodates the decorative plate

13, whereby the decorative plate 13 is either flush with the plane of the drain plate 12 or protrudes upwards from the drain plate 12 to a lesser extent, as shown in Figure 2. The plate-shaped support 14 has a hole 17 on the underside, e.g. to simplify the fastening of the decorative plate 13.

Reference is made below to Figures 3 and 4 and an alternative embodiment of the invention is described on the basis of these. Figure 3 shows a drain grate 10 with a round outline, with partially ring-shaped slots 21 made in its drain plate 12, through which the water can drain. These partially ring-shaped slots 21 can have a crescent shape, as in the embodiment according to Figure 3. These partially ring-shaped slots 21 can be arranged on concentric circles around the central decorative plate 13. The decorative plate 13 itself is designed with a round outline in this case to adapt to the outline of the drain grate 10.

As can be seen from Figure 4, the fastening of the decorative plate 13 is similar to the variant according to Figure 2. A plate-shaped support 14 is provided, which is connected to the drain plate 12 in its edge area, for example welded. The plate-shaped support

14 is located on the underside of the drain plate 12. Above the plate-shaped support 14 there is a recess 16 which receives the decorative plate 13.

The decorative plate 13 can be attached to the drain plate 12 of the drain grate 10 and to the plate-shaped support 14, for example, by gluing. The fastening shown in Figure 2

Excess adhesive can drain off through the visible central hole 17 in the support plate 14.

Claims (10)

1. Drain grate for a floor drain comprising a drain plate with a number of drainage holes arranged in a grating-like manner, characterized in that a central region ( 15 ) of the drain grate ( 10 ) has no drainage holes ( 11 ) and in this central region a decorative plate ( 13 ) visible towards the top is arranged. 2. Drain grate according to claim 1, characterized in that the decorative plate ( 13 ) is approximately flush with the laterally adjoining region of the drain grate in one plane. 3. Drain grate according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the decorative plate ( 13 ) is embedded in the drain grate. 4. Drain grate according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that it has a plate-shaped support ( 14 ) in its central region and a recess ( 16 ) located thereabove, which approximately corresponds in outline to the decorative plate ( 13 ) and receives it. 5. Drain grate according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the drain plate ( 12 ) consists of metal. 6. Drain grate according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the decorative plate ( 13 ) is rectangular, polygonal or round in outline. 7. Drain grate according to one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the decorative plate ( 13 ) consists of semi-precious stone, precious stone or a ceramic material. 8. Drain grate according to one of claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the drainage holes ( 11 ) are rectangular or square when viewed from above onto the drain grate ( 10 ). 9. Drain grate according to one of claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the drainage holes ( 21 ) are partially annular slots. 10. Drain grate according to one of claims 1 to 7 or 9, characterized in that the drainage holes ( 21 ) are arranged on concentric circles around the decorative plate ( 13 ).
