Adjustable reclining frame

The present invention relates to an adjustable reclining frame with a base frame, a back support pivotably connected to the side rails of the base frame and a neck support pivotably connected to the free end of the back support.

Reclining frames of the aforementioned type are known per se.

In the case of bed frames of this type, the neck support, back support and the other lying surfaces that form the foot section are usually designed as slatted frames. However, the support parts mentioned can also be equipped with other support surfaces for a mattress, for example with flat or curved, essentially full-surface support plates, with grid-like elements or the like.

In the context of the present invention, it is of secondary importance which construction is chosen with regard to the design of the support surfaces.

The present invention is based on the object of creating a bed frame of the generic type which is cost-effective and robustly constructed, reliable in its functions and particularly gentle on a support, for example a mattress.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that

a) the pivoting of the headrest and backrest with the headrest advancing is carried out via setting levers with coupling links,

b) the headrest is connected to the backrest via hinged fittings with rotational travel limitation, and

c) the backrest is connected to the base frame via lever fittings in such a way that the backrest is moved towards the head-end of the base frame when pivoted out of a basic position.

Such a reclining frame offers all desirable adjustment options for back support and neck support, whereby these adjustment options are realized with the simplest, robust fittings, so that a corresponding reclining frame can ultimately be manufactured inexpensively.

It is particularly advantageous that the back support is moved towards the head end of the base frame when it is swung out from a basic position, as this prevents compression of a mattress lying on top when the back support is adjusted.

In the drawings, the reference numeral 1 designates an adjustable reclining frame having a base frame 2 to whose side rails 3 a back support 4 is pivotably connected, wherein a pivotably connected neck support 5 is provided at the free end of the back support 4.

The neck support 5 is pivotally connected to the back support 4 via joint fittings 6 with a rotation limiter. Furthermore, coupling links 7 engage the neck support 5, which in turn are pivotally connected to setting levers 8. The setting levers 8 are in turn firmly connected to a tube 9 or a shaft, whereby the tube 9 or the shaft can be rotated in a known manner via a motor 10. When the tube 9 or the shaft is rotated, the setting levers 8 are pivoted in the direction of the double arrow A in Figures 2-5. the headrest 5 is pivoted out of the basic position until the rotation limit of the joint fittings 6 is activated, as is clearly shown in Figure 3. After the rotation limit is activated, further pivoting of the setting lever 8 leads to a joint pivoting of the backrest 4 and the neckrest 5, whereby the pivoting angle between the backrest 4 and the neckrest 5 remains unchanged.

An intermediate position as shown in Figure 4 enables the back support 4 and the neck support 5 to be set up to a final position as shown in Figure 5.

The backrest 4 is connected to the side members 3 of the base frame 2 via lever fittings 11 in the form of double levers 11a and 11b. These double levers 11a and 11b, which can be of different lengths, ensure that the backrest 4 is displaced in the direction of the head end 12 of the base frame 2 when the backrest 4 is swung open. The extent of this displacement can be determined depending on the design of the length of the double levers 11a and 11b, whereby the displacement of the backrest 4 in the direction of the head end 12 serves the purpose of preventing compression of a mattress lying on top of it.

The setting levers 8 are telescopic in design and allow length adjustment within certain limits, which on the one hand allows tolerance compensation during assembly and on the other hand allows a change in the maximum pivoting position for the back support 4 and the neck support 5.

All fittings for pivoting the backrest 4 and the neckrest 5 have a simple, cost-effective and stable design and, overall, form a highly resilient construction with regard to supporting the backrest 4 and the neckrest 5.

In the maximum pivoting position (see Figures 1 and 5), the backrest 4 is pivoted approximately 60° relative to the base frame 2.

In this maximum pivoting position, the pivoting angle between the headrest 5 and the base frame 2 is approximately 84-85°.

These maximum adjustment positions have proven to be particularly practical.

Claims (6)

1. Adjustable bed frame with a base frame, a backrest pivotably connected to the side rails of the base frame and a neckrest pivotably connected to the free end of the backrest, characterized in that a) the pivoting of the headrest ( 5 ) and backrest ( 4 ) with advance of the headrest ( 4 ) is carried out via a setting lever ( 8 ) with coupling links ( 7 ), b) the headrest ( 5 ) is connected to the backrest ( 4 ) via joint fittings ( 6 ) with rotational travel limitation, and c) the backrest ( 4 ) is connected to the base frame ( 2 ) via lever fittings ( 11 ) in such a way that the backrest ( 4 ) is displaced in the direction of the head-side end ( 12 ) of the base frame ( 2 ) when pivoted out of a basic position. 2. Reclining frame according to claim 1, characterized in that the setting levers ( 8 ) are telescopic and are therefore adjustable in length. 3. Lying frame according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the lever fittings ( 11 ) each consist of two double levers ( 11 a, 11 b). 4. Lying frame according to claim 3, characterized in that the double levers ( 11 a, 11 b) have different lengths. 5. Lying frame according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the back support ( 4 ) is pivoted by approximately 60° relative to the base frame ( 2 ) in the maximum pivoting position. 6. Reclining frame according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the neck support ( 5 ) is pivoted approximately 84-85° relative to the base frame ( 2 ) in the maximum pivoting position.
