Conventional hot perm devices

The state of the art includes so-called hot curling tongs, which give the hair a wave-like appearance over a larger area. (Waffle iron principle)

The invention for which utility model protection is hereby applied for represents a significant technical advance.

This is because the hair on the head (2) can be given a wave shape (same radius) evenly from the roots (14) to the tips of the hair. There is no need to reposition the hair as is the case with hot curling tongs.

The corrugation process is accelerated considerably.

The small contact surface allows for significantly higher hair-styling pressures.

1.4. Description of heating formerfD

1.4.1. Drive unit Description

The drive unit is housed in a plastic/steel housing (18).

The housing (18) has a cylindrical shape of approx. 5 cm φ and a length of approx. 18 cm, which tapers towards the exit point of the drive axle^ 1).

The drive unit consists of a motor (if necessary with reduction gear) (12) and a drive axle (11) which is mounted at the exit point (19).

The drive shaft (11) protrudes approx. 90 mm from the housing and is flattened on 4 edges

Different drive rollers (3), whose surfaces have different wave-like features, can be alternately attached to this drive axle (11). A drive roller (3) and counter roller (4) are approximately 60 mm long and have a diameter of approximately 20 mm. The drive roller (3) has a square-shaped tunnel along the length of the central axis, which serves to accommodate the drive axle (11).

The motor (12) is started by a switch (13), the speed of which can be varied by pressing the button more or less strongly.

1.4.2 Heating unit

On the drive housing there is a handle (8) which, via a rotary axis (9), forms the arm on which the counter roller (4) is mounted.

The pivot point of the rotation axis (9) is moved as close as possible to the rollers in order to achieve a correspondingly strong leverage effect.

At the end of the lever arm, a heating cartridge (7) is housed in a round cylinder. The power supply runs along the load arm via 2 cables (20).

The heater is put into operation analogously to the operation of the drive unit (12), by corresponding parallel connection.

The counter roller (4) with a correspondingly corrugated surface corresponding to the drive roller (3) is placed on the heating cartridge (7). It can rotate freely.

The counter roller (4) rotates in the opposite direction through contact with the drive roller (3).

1.4.3 Forming rollers

The surface of the drive and counter roller (3/4) has either the usual sinusoidal corrugation with radii of approx. 3 to 6 mm or a tooth-shaped wave.

The heating former can also be fitted with smooth rollers (21) for de-curling. 1.4.5. Protective plate (6)

On the arm of the heated counter roller (4) there is a permanently installed protective plate (6) made of steel or plastic, preferably only 1 to 2 mm thick, which is positioned at a distance of 2 mm from the counter roller (4). The protective plate (6) prevents skin contact.

Claims (5)

1. Device/application ( 1 ) for waving and straightening human head hair ( 2 ), characterized in that two wave-shaped cylindrical rollers can be pivoted apart about an axis point and then pressed firmly together again manually (or automatically), based on the utility model application of the undersigned of No. 200.10.066.1 of May 29, 2000. 2. Device ( 1 ) according to claim 1, characterized in that the axis point ( 5 ) pivoting the counter roller is positioned near the cylinders, so that strong contact pressures (pliers principle) can be achieved by the lever effect if this is required by the hair structure in order to achieve a desired waving or straightening result. 3. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that exchangeable corrugating or smoothing cylinders ( 3/4 ) are placed on the drive shaft ( 11 ) or on the heating cartridge ( 7 ). 4. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the heating cartridge built into the axis of the counter roller ( 4 ) according to the curling iron principle deforms the hair by heat, in that the heating cartridge ( 7 ) heats up the counter roller ( 4 ). 5. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the head ( 2 ) is protected from burns by a firmly attached, curved protective plate ( 6 ).
