Üblicherweise wird mit einer LR. Kamera eine Untersuchung der menschlichen Brust auf Brustkrebs in folgender Weise durchgeführt: Die Patientin hält sich nach dem Entkleiden des Oberkörpers für 10 bis 20 min. in einem Raum mit einer Temperatur von ca 18° C. auf, dabei sollen die Hände oder Arme die Brust nicht berühren. Nach Ablauf dieser Zeit ist eine Abkühlung der Brust erfolgt, so daß nahezu ein steady-state erreicht ist. Es werden dann in einem Abstand von ca 1 m. Thermographie-Bilder der Brust angefertigt, wobei die Patientin die Arme hoch hält.
