Cleaning and sorting machine for ornamental bird feed

Ornamental birds (especially parakeets, parrots and canaries) only eat the seeds of the food presented to them. After about a day, the feed container on the cage still contains the slug (shells without seeds) and the remaining good food. The containers are then emptied and filled with new food. The used food, which still contains a lot of good seeds, is disposed of or collected and cleaned.

In cleaning machines for ornamental bird feed of the usual design, the cleaning process is carried out only with the help of air. This means that the poo is not properly separated from the grains as it falls (vertical fall). In order to achieve a reasonably satisfactory result, the process must be repeated 1 or 2 times. Since the cleaning process is very time-consuming and only has little success, these devices are often no longer used after a short time.

The invention specified in claim 1 is based on the problem of achieving perfect cleaning and sorting of the used feed in one operation .

This is achieved through the overall design of the cleaning and sorting machine with its many variable setting options for the individual functions.

These variable functions are listed below.

The filling funnel (item 7) of the cleaning and sorting machine is filled with the used feed. The blower (item 5) and the drive for the vibrating screen (item 3) are switched on when the electrical connection is made (item 2). The slide (item 8) is opened until the feed trickles onto the vibrating screen (item 4).

By shaking the sieve, the grains move downwards onto the inclined sieve.

The grains are sorted according to size. Grains of sand are also sorted out.

The vibrating screen is interchangeable and can be replaced by another screen that has more openings and different mesh sizes. In this case, the number of collecting containers must be adjusted accordingly.

During this process, the air blows the light parts (chaff) backwards.

The sorted grains, sand and poop fall into the designated collecting containers (position 6).

If the opening of the funnel becomes blocked, the opening can be cleared using the stirring rod (pos. 9).

The cleaning and sorting machine is a closed system. All attachments are held together by the housing (item 1).

The air flow is accelerated by the inclined wall of the funnel and by the inclination of the vibrating screen (jet effect).

The air can escape through the outlet (pos. 11), a fine-mesh grille.

The work process can be observed at any time through the viewing windows (position 10) which are attached to the collecting containers and at the top (plexiglass). If necessary, the air speed and the vibration drive can be adjusted. The upper viewing window is removable (inspection hatch).

In the housing between the side walls, the filling funnel (item 7), the slide (item 8) and the stirring rod (item 9), which in turn is located in the filling funnel, are located at the top. Also located between the side walls below the filling funnel are the inclined vibrating sieve (item 4) and the drive (item 3). Below and behind the vibrating sieve are the collecting containers (item 6). The blower (item 5) and the electrical connection (item 2) are located on one end. On the opposite side, the blower (item 11) is located. 2.
