The invention relates to a piece of furniture with at least one compartment that can be closed with a pivoting door, wherein a mechanically height-adjustable storage surface is integrated into the pivoting door.

When designing workstations, especially in offices, various measures are taken to achieve the greatest possible flexibility. Up to now, this has generally been achieved using tables, table combinations and side containers or elements, e.g. in the form of corner combinations. In this case, filing and/or filing materials, such as folders, index cards or similar, are stored in side elements, while office technology, particularly IT accessories, are stored directly on a work table and/or side table. This type of workstation design not only looks very tidy, but also requires a particularly high level of effort to accommodate the cabling due to the technical equipment on the work table.

It has already been proposed to improve the organisation by arranging tower-like tall cupboards in the immediate vicinity of a workstation or work table, as described in EP 0 382 514 A1. In principle, it would be possible to store computer accessories, especially monitors and keyboards, in a furniture compartment, but this would impair handling to an unacceptable extent.

A generic piece of furniture in the form of a refrigerator is known, for example, from DE 196 33 975 A1. This refrigerator has a refrigerator door with shelves that can be attached to the door at different heights, i.e. are height-adjustable. A similar solution is known from DE 196 33 972 A1. However, such refrigerator doors are obviously not related to the storage of computer accessories in an office piece of furniture.

From DE 197 10 038 A1, a work or equipment cabinet for computers and computer accessories is known, which serves to accommodate a large number of interconnected computer work devices. Furthermore, from DE 298 20 629 Ul, a housing for computer units and their accessories is known.

In addition, height-adjustable monitor mounts are also known (e.g. from DE 296 16 906 Ul), which are usually attached directly to a desk and are designed like a swivel arm. Such height-adjustable monitors

However, the door mounts are obviously not suitable for accommodating computer accessories.

The object of the invention is to provide a solution with which computer accessories or the like, in particular screens, can be stored neatly when not in use, without impairing handling when in use.

This object is achieved according to the invention in a piece of furniture of the type described at the outset in that the storage surface designed to accommodate a screen or the like is connected to a height adjustment designed as a four-bar chain, to which a gas pressure spring is hinged on the underside, which is adjustably hinged to the door at the end facing away from the four-bar chain.

With a piece of furniture designed in this way, a screen or similar can easily be stored in the compartment of the piece of furniture with the door closed when not in use and then does not cause any disruption. To use it, simply swing the hinged door open and adjust the height-adjustable shelf to the height required by the respective user so that the screen is at the correct working height. In order to store the screen back in the compartment when not in use, the shelf must then be adjusted to a suitable height that allows the door to be closed. It is extremely easy to use and the height adjustment itself is com-

fully integrated into the door and does not affect the visual impression of the piece of furniture when the door is opened. The height adjustment is simply constructed as a four-bar linkage and can be easily accommodated in the door. By connecting it to the gas pressure spring, it can be easily adjusted to different loads, for example to screens of different sizes with correspondingly different weights. By adjusting the articulation point of the gas pressure spring, the gas pressure spring can be specifically adjusted so that the storage area with the screen on it virtually floats freely in a low position and can be adjusted in height without great effort.

In order to make handling particularly easy, it is preferably provided that the four-bar chain is infinitely height-adjustable.

It is particularly preferred that a keyboard holder is arranged on the storage surface. With this design, both the screen and the keyboard can be accommodated particularly easily in the compartment of the piece of furniture.

A piece of furniture, for example a cupboard, has a compartment at about table height, which can be opened and closed by means of a pivoting door 1. A pivoting column 2 is arranged on the edge of the piece of furniture itself, around which the door 1 can be pivoted, preferably by means of sliding bearings 3, for example by a pivoting angle of up to 110° from the closed to the maximum open position. The compartment of the piece of furniture (not shown) is dimensioned so that it can accommodate a computer screen or the like.

On the inside, a height-adjustable storage surface 4 is integrated into the pivoting door 1, which is in _a pivoting position indicated by an arrow H in Fig. 1 and in Fig. 5, in which the door 1 can be closed with the screen on the storage surface 4 of the same, so that the storage surface 4 with the screen on it is within the area closed by the door 1.

The storage surface 4 is preferably connected to a mechanical height adjustment that is integrated into the door 1. The mechanical height adjustment preferably consists of a four-bar linkage 5 that is arranged inside the door 1. The linkage points are designated by 6, while a locking point is designated by 7. The storage surface 4 is connected to the four-bar linkage 5 via a right-angled arm 8.

On the underside, a gas pressure spring 10 is hinged to the four-bar chain 5 at a further hinge point 9, which is adjustably hinged to the door 1 at its end facing away from the four-bar chain 5, namely via a hinge point 11 on an adjusting screw 12.

As can best be seen in Fig. 3, the articulation or hinge point 11 can be moved from the uppermost position H ₀ shown in Fig. 3 to a lowermost position Hy via the adjusting screw 12, whereby the articulation or hinge point 11 of the gas pressure spring 17 changes, so that the force of the gas pressure spring 10 changes in its effect on the four-bar chain 5. ■

Depending on the weight of the screen to be placed on the support surface 4, the adjusting screw 12 is adjusted so that

the position of the gas pressure spring 10 is such that the support surface 4 is in a floating rest position in a manner known per se, from which it can be moved up or down in the simplest way without applying any great force. and at the end of the movement process it remains stable in this new height. If a screen with a different weight is used, the adjusting screw 12 must then be readjusted accordingly.

In Fig. 4, both the maximum height positions H _1113x and the minimum height position H _1111n of the storage surface 4 are indicated, ie when the door 1 is open, the respective user can bring the storage surface 4 into the desired position adapted to his size.

If the screen is to be placed back in the compartment of the piece of furniture, the storage surface 4 is _brought into the swivel position H shown in Fig. 5 and the door 1 can be closed.

At the front end of the storage area 4 facing away from the door 1, a keyboard shelf can also be expediently provided, which is not shown in the drawing.

When not in use, the screen can be stored in the compartment of the piece of furniture that can be closed by door 1. To use it, the door simply has to be swung open and the screen can be brought into the desired working position by adjusting the height of the storage surface 4.

Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment shown. Other embodiments are possible without departing from the basic idea. The height adjustment can of course also be implemented in other ways. The important thing is that it is integrated into the door 1. ' - ■ ^: .

1. Piece of furniture with at least one compartment that can be closed with a pivoting door, wherein a height-adjustable storage surface is integrated into the pivoting door, characterized in that the storage surface ( 4 ) designed to accommodate a screen or the like is connected to a height adjustment designed as a four-bar chain ( 5 ), to which a gas pressure spring ( 10 ) is hinged on the underside, which is adjustably hinged ( 12 ) to the door ( 1 ) at the end facing away from the four-bar chain ( 5 ). 2. Piece of furniture according to claim 1, characterized in that the four-bar chain ( 5 ) is continuously adjustable in height. 3.
