Monitor for sports stadiums

Description

The invention relates to an advanced monitor for use in sports stadiums and aims to display advertising in general as well as moving images or other corresponding information.

The invention relates to a further development of a monitor based on light-emitting diode (LED) technology in connection with local use in sports stadiums as a device for dynamic advertising reproduction or reproduction of moving images in order to make better use of the space available for this purpose or to provide greater attraction for the spectators in the surrounding area.

The invention is applicable in the field of advertising and can also be used generally in the field of screen manufacturing.

It is well known that it is common practice these days to advertise in sports stadiums due to their great attraction.

In most cases, advertising is provided on fixed panels or boards around the perimeter or playing field where the sporting events take place.

Since sporting events attract a large number of national or international audiences, they are often broadcast on television. This broadens the scope of advertising so that the advertising is seen not only by the spectators in the stadium where the sporting event is taking place, but also by the audience following the event on television.

Spanish utility model application number 9802557 (published number 1,041,106) and Spanish invention patent number 9101409 (published number 2,036,451) relate to an improvement of a display screen and an improved luminescent display screen. They each describe light emitting diode (LED) screens for displaying images and it is stated that these screens have a matte transparent polycarbonate cover which gives the screen anti-reflective and leakage-proof properties, thus enabling outdoor use.

Spanish Utility Model No. 9802557 relates in particular to a polycarbonate sheet structure comprising a series of hemispherical projecting receptacles which house the light emitting diodes (LEDs) which serve as a light source.

There is also Spanish patent for invention no. 8802340 (published under number 2,009,993) which has a different purpose, i.e. the installation of illuminated advertising in collapsible or unfolded form on terraces or roofs, providing a mounting frame so that the advertising unit can be mounted on a base or a horizontal support on which it can move back and forth between a vertical or slightly inclined working position and an opposite position in which the advertising unit is folded on top of the support.

The monitor which can be used in sports stadiums and which is provided according to the invention is as such novel in its specific field of application due to the fact that it is particularly suitable for arrangement and placement in stadiums at the edge of the playing field, so that the images displayed on the monitor are easily in the field of view of the spectators. By arranging it inside the stadium, dynamic advertising is provided on the television sets whenever the sporting event is broadcast on television. Therefore, the monitor should be arranged at a distance from the playing field as close as possible to the current action without obstructing it.

Technically speaking, the module comprises a display screen on the front based on light-emitting diode (LED) technology, i.e. based on light-emitting diode technology, and comprises a mosaic of luminous dots for displaying moving images.

The screen reflects over a large field of view (approximately 120°) so that it can be seen from most possible areas and any light reproduction is without reflections from the game.

the use is independent of the sunlight, the sport or a night broadcast, etc. Otherwise the effects would be reduced by preventing the viewing of the information and disturbing the players.

For this purpose, the monitor has an automatic brightness control system that adjusts the brightness of the light module without disturbing the players. Similarly, the screen is designed with a hemispherical polycarbonate panel to avoid reflections from any external light sources.

The polycarbonate front part is sufficiently rigid and resistant to withstand the direct impact of a ball that can hit at a speed of more than 100 km/h. To withstand the impact of a player, the module is inclined at one end to a base firmly anchored to the ground and is fixed by means of a damper or bumper system, so that it gives way slightly on impact, bends backwards and returns slightly to its original position after the impact has been absorbed by the player. This reduces the effect of the impact.

The monitor houses the display screen in an external aluminum frame (a lightweight material that has sufficient resistance to outdoor conditions), which has additional handles for transport.

To facilitate the transport of the modules or the construction units, the base can be folded on the back of the modules by overcoming the bumper effect.

This position is intentionally maintained using a pair of hooks located on the upper base area so that the module assumes a flat shape suitable for transportation.

In order to adjust the inclination of the monitor relative to the ground, each bumper should rest on supports on the top of an opening strip (to adjust the rest position), thus obtaining the most favorable inclination for the best viewing conditions, as well as allowing adjustment of the angle of impact of impact loads against the screen, thus adjusting the pressure of the screen in relation to the visibility and the force that the module must overcome when an impact load from a player occurs.

From these figures it can be seen that the improved monitor, which can be used in sports stadiums, comprises a module 1 which has a parallel epi-

pedal shape, substantially flat, and which comprises a display screen 2 on its larger front side and a frame 11 on its rear side. This preferably gives a rectangular shape. The display screen 2 is arranged on the front side of the module 1 and is suitably covered with a highly resistant external material (preferably polycarbonate) provided with a plurality of hemispherical projections 9 regularly distributed in the form of a mosaic of luminous points and which accommodate light emitting diodes (LEDs). The frame 11 is hinged at its lower part to a base 3 (which is preferably rectangular) by means of a hinge 6, and between the two frames 3 and 11 two shock absorber devices 4 are arranged, one on each side, and which are connected at their ends to supports 5 which are respectively arranged on the upper side of the frame 11 and the base support 3. Each support 5 carries a connecting device using screws and a series of openings 10 provided in the frame parts 3 and 11, which serve for the adjustment of the same.

Claims (2)

1. Monitor for use in sports stadiums, comprising a module ( 1 ) with a flat, parallelepiped shape, with a display screen ( 2 ) on the larger front side, based on light-emitting diode (LED) technology, which can display moving images and dynamic advertisements, the display screen ( 2 ) having a cover designed as a polycarbonate layer with light points formed by light-emitting diodes with hemispherical projections ( 9 ), characterized in that it is formed by a module ( 1 ) which rests on or is carried by a frame comprising a frame ( 11 ), a base ( 3 ) and two shock absorber devices ( 4 ), the module ( 1 ) is firmly connected to the frame ( 11 ), preferably in the shape of a rectangle, the frame ( 11 ) is hinged at the lower edge by means of joints ( 6 ) to the base ( 3 ), which in a similar way has a rectangular, flat shape the shock absorbing devices ( 4 ) are arranged on the two sides of the frame ( 11 ) and the base ( 3 ) and allow a rearward pivoting movement, the respective shock absorbing devices ( 4 ) are fixedly attached to the frame ( 11 ) and the base ( 3 ) at their ends to the supports ( 5 ) and the supports are slidable along a series of openings ( 10 ) and the base ( 3 ) has a hook ( 8 ) on the side opposite the joint ( 6 ). 2. Monitor for use in sports stadiums according to claim 1, characterized in that the monitor ( 1 ) has a control device for adjusting the brightness of the display screen ( 2 ) with a handle part ( 7 ) arranged recessed on the respective side.
