Horse blanket

The present invention relates to a horse blanket for placing on the back of a horse.

Horse blankets are well known and serve to protect a large part of a horse's body, especially the back area, against the cold.

The desired effect depends so far exclusively on the material and thickness of the horse blanket. 10

The present invention is based on the object of improving a horse blanket of the generic type in such a way that a targeted temperature influence on certain parts of the horse's body is possible.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that the horse blanket is equipped with several pockets with thermal pads arranged therein.

In this case, thermal cushions are those cushions that maintain a temperature level that differs from the ambient temperature over a longer period of time, so that it is possible to warm or cool certain parts of a horse's body with the help of these thermal cushions.

A horse blanket according to the invention thus offers the advantage over conventional embodiments that, in addition to the effect of the horse blanket in general, the possibility is created of warming or cooling particularly sensitive or vulnerable parts of the horse's body when necessary.

The body parts in question are in particular the shoulder area, the area of the back muscles at the withers, the area of the saddle, the kidney area and the area of the croup of a horse.

Preferably, the pockets with the thermal pads are placed in the areas mentioned.

The thermal pads arranged in the pockets can be brought to a certain temperature level before the horse blanket is used, either by heating or cooling, so that when a horse blanket according to the invention is used as intended, the areas in question can either be warmed or cooled.

If a particularly intensive effect of the above-mentioned possibilities is desired, a further development of the invention is preferred in which the pockets are attached to the inside that rests on the back of a horse when the horse blanket is in use.

Alternatively, the pockets can also be attached to the outside of the horse blanket.

Advantageously, the bags are each provided with a removal opening through which the thermal pads can be inserted into or removed from the bags.

This makes it possible to heat or cool the thermal pads outside the area of the horse blanket, and it also opens up the possibility of filling individual pockets with heated or cooled thermal pads if required.

It is considered particularly advantageous if the thermal pillows are filled with spelt grains as a heat-storing material.

Spelt grains are an ancient type of wheat that is ideal for storing heat and also has health-promoting properties. Spelt grains are known to have relaxing, antispasmodic, calming and vitalizing effects, and also strengthen the immune system, to name just a few of these properties.

Further features of the invention are the subject of further subclaims.

The accompanying drawings illustrate embodiments of the invention, which are described in more detail below.

According to the invention, this horse blanket 1 is equipped with several pockets 2 and thermal pads 3 arranged in these pockets 2 (see Figure 3).

In the embodiment of the invention according to Figures 1 and 2, the pockets 2 are attached to the inside of the horse blanket 1 which rests on the back of a horse when it is in use.

The pockets 2 are each accessible through a slot 4 passing through the horse blanket 1, which can be covered on the outside by a flap 5.

As shown in Figure 3, thermal cushions 3 are filled into the pockets 2.

Thermal cushions 3 with a filling in the form of spelt grains 6 are preferred, and when filled with spelt grains 6, the thermal cushions 3 are advantageously divided into small chambers by several seams 7 in order to prevent displacement or undesirable relocation of the spelt grains within a thermal cushion 3.

The thermal cushions 3 can be heated or cooled in suitable devices after removal from the pockets 2 and then reinserted into the pockets 2 at a predetermined temperature level.

the parts of the horse's body on which the bags 2 lie are optionally warmed or cooled.

When using thermal pillows 3 with a filling of spelt grains 6, the additional advantage is achieved that the health-promoting properties of the spelt grains 6 can be utilized.

In the embodiment of the invention according to Figure 3, it can be seen that the pockets 2 can also be attached to the outside of a horse blanket 1. Here too, a flap 5 covers the filling opening 8 of the pockets.

Figure 4 shows an embodiment of the invention in which the horse blanket 1 consists of a total of two material layers la and 1b, which lie congruently on top of one another and are sewn together in accordance with the overall size of the horse blanket 1. It is preferred that the inner material layer 1b, which lies on a horse's back in the position of use, consists of a thinner material than the outer material layer la.

In this embodiment, the pockets 2 are formed by the two superimposed material layers 1a and 1b being connected to one another by circumferential seams 9 in accordance with the desired size of the pockets 2. In order to provide access to the pockets 2, a slot 4 is again provided in the outer material layer 1a, which slot 4 has no additional cover in the embodiment according to Figure 4.

The embodiments shown make it clear that there are many possibilities for providing a horse blanket 1 with pockets 2 which can be equipped with thermal pads 3.

The use of thermal cushions 3 with a filling of spelt grains 6 is preferred within the scope of the present invention, but thermal cushions with other filling materials can also be used.

The closure flaps 5 and/or the support area of these closure flaps 5 can be provided with a Velcro strip in order to fix the closed position of these closure flaps 5.

Claims (11)

1. Horse blanket to be placed on the back of a horse, characterized in that the horse blanket ( 1 ) is equipped with several pockets ( 2 ) with thermal pads ( 3 ) arranged therein. 2. Horse blanket according to claim 1, characterized in that the pockets ( 2 ) are attached to the inside which rests on the back of a horse in the position of use of the horse blanket ( 1 ). 3. Horse blanket according to claim 1, characterized in that the pockets ( 2 ) are attached to the outside of the horse blanket ( 1 ). 4. Horse blanket according to one or more of claims 1-3, characterized in that the pockets ( 2 ) are each provided with a removal opening ( 4 , 8 ) through which the thermal pads ( 3 ) can be introduced into the pockets ( 2 ) or removed from the pockets ( 2 ). 5. Horse blanket according to claim 4, characterized in that the removal openings ( 4 , 8 ) can be closed by closure flaps ( 5 ). 6. Horse blanket according to claim 5, characterized in that the closure flaps ( 5 ) and/or the support area of the closure flaps ( 5 ) are provided with a Velcro fastener. 7. Horse blanket according to claim 2, characterized in that the inner pockets are each accessible from the outside through a slot ( 4 ) passing through the horse blanket ( 1 ). 8. Horse blanket according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the thermal cushions ( 3 ) are filled with spelt grains ( 6 ) as a heat-storing material. 9. Horse blanket according to claim 8, characterized in that the thermal pads are divided into a plurality of chambers by several longitudinal and transverse seams ( 7 ). 10. Horse blanket according to claim 1, characterized in that the pockets ( 2 ) are formed by material sections made of textile material sewn onto the horse blanket ( 1 ). 11. Horse blanket according to claim 1, characterized in that the horse blanket ( 1 ) consists of an outer and an inner material layer ( 1a , 1b ) and that the pockets ( 2 ) are connected to one another by the two material layers ( 1a and 1b ) with interconnecting seams ( 9 ).
