Terry cloth

The invention relates to a terry cloth fabric with a base fabric made of cotton threads into which pile threads (pile threads) are incorporated, which consist at least partially of cotton.

Cotton terry cloth is primarily used as drying cloths, bath towels or hand towels, and also as a material for bathrobes, as cotton is able to absorb and store moisture due to its special structure. The disadvantage, however, is that the side used for drying becomes wet and the transfer of moisture to the base fabric or to the other side of the drying cloth, bath towel or hand towel that is not used for drying takes a long time. This means that the drying side will always feel damp and drying is slowed down.

This is where the invention comes in, which has set itself the task of developing such terry cloth fabrics in such a way that the

Moisture absorption during drying as well as moisture release when drying the towel, bath towel or hand towel is improved.

This problem is solved by the characterizing features of the main claim; advantageous further developments and preferred embodiments are described in the subclaims.

Pile threads are incorporated into the base fabric, which is made from a base warp and weft with cotton threads and has a 3- or 4-weft weave, which is common in terry cloth fabrics. These pile threads form the typical double-sided loops of a terry cloth fabric. The pile threads contain at least a proportion of microfibres, which is between 3:1 and 1:3.

Due to their special capillary structure, microfibers are able to absorb moisture well and transfer it well. Therefore, when using a drying, bathing or hand towel made of terry cloth, whose loop threads contain a proportion of microfibers, the moisture absorbed when drying the body after bathing or washing is led from the wet side into the fabric, so that this wet side always feels dry to a certain extent and is thus able to dry a body more quickly and better when the terry cloth is used as a bath towel, for example. On the other hand, such a fabric is also able to release absorbed moisture more quickly when drying, since moisture that has penetrated the inner base fabric is in turn led more quickly to the outer surface formed by the loops due to the structure of the microfibers, and can be carried away by them in the form of vapor, so that the drying of the terry cloth is accelerated.

The pile threads can be spun from a mixture of cotton fibres and micro fibres. This achieves the desired transport and absorption of moisture during drying. In order to give such terry cloth fabrics the desired voluminous

In order to give the fabric a pleasant feel, it is advantageous to use pile threads which are twisted from one or more threads, of which at least one thread is spun from cotton and one thread is spun from microfiber.

Such pile threads are advantageously made up of two threads twisted together from a cotton thread and a microfiber thread. The pile thread can also be made up of several threads twisted together, of which at least one of the threads is a microfiber thread and the other threads are cotton threads. The cotton fibers are spun into one or more cotton threads, and the microfibers are in at least one or more other microfiber threads that are also spun and twisted together. The thread properties are therefore essentially determined by the cotton thread(s), the loops are on the base fabric and give the terry cloth its volume.

The essence of the invention is explained in more detail with reference to the embodiments shown in Figures 1 and 2; Fig. 1 shows a schematic section through a terry cloth fabric with 3-weft weave;

The base fabric is woven in a known manner from the warp threads 1 and the weft threads 2. The pile threads 3 are incorporated into this fabric. The pile threads 3 form the loops 4 typical of terry cloth fabrics. Between the loops 4 are the areas 5 in which the pile threads 3 wrap around the weft threads and in which moisture can pass to the base fabric. In the case of a 3-weft weave, the pile threads wrap around one of the weft threads, and in the case of a 4-weft weave, two of them. The pile threads 3 are twisted from at least one cotton thread and one microfiber thread.

Claims (4)

1. Terry cloth fabric with a base fabric made of cotton threads into which pile threads (loop threads) are incorporated, which consist at least partially of cotton yarns, characterized in that the pile threads ( 3 ) made of cotton contain a proportion of micro-fiber. 2. Terry cloth fabric according to claim 1, characterized in that the pile threads ( 3 ) are spun with a micro-fiber content of cotton fibers and micro-fibers with a proportion of 3:1 to 1:3. 3. Terry cloth fabric according to claim 1, characterized in that the pile threads ( 3 ) with micro-fiber content are twisted from two threads, of which one of the threads is spun from micro-fibers and the other from cotton. 4. Terry cloth fabric according to claim 1, characterized in that the pile threads ( 3 ) with micro-fiber content are twisted from three or more threads, of which at least one of the threads is spun from micro-fibers, the others from cotton.
