Abstract

A stackable electric installation apparatus (10) has matable male and female connections (13,14) on the sides of the insulating casing (11). The sides form a funnel when joined with a locking spring catch and bar beneath it which is accessible through the funnel using a screwdriver to separate the parts. A stackable electric installation apparatus (10) comprises an insulating casing (11) having male and female connections (13,14) on the front sides (12), which have half-funnels (16) forming a funnel when connected. Beneath the funnel is a spring catch on one side (20) and a bar on the other, the spring catch being accessible through the funnel, which is itself of such size as to accommodate a conventional electric screwdriver.

Description:

The invention relates to series-mounted electrical installation devices according to the preamble of claim 1.

A wide variety of designs of electrical installation devices that can be connected in series are known. Compare, for example, DE-C 43 09 453, DE-C 198 16 554, EP-A 0 715 375 or WO92/07396. These installation devices that can be connected in series usually have a cuboid-shaped housing made of insulating material with two usually flat front sides. There is a male and a female plug on the front sides. If several installation devices are connected in series in a modular manner, these plugs provide both the mechanical and the electrical connection.

It goes without saying that this plug connection must be sufficiently strong to ensure electrical contact reliability over a long period of time. It is therefore not easy to separate installation devices once they have been plugged together. This is particularly true if the installation devices are installed in a device installation channel, for example. In this case, the installer must first remove the devices from the installation channel in order to be able to handle them better. This is unsatisfactory.

The present invention is therefore based on the object of further developing series-connected electrical installation devices in such a way that devices that have been plugged together once can be easily separated again.

This object is achieved by a series-mounted electrical installation device having the features of claim 1.

The main advantages of the invention are that the funnel, which is formed from two half-funnels provided on the front sides of the housing, is accessible from the front of the device and that the locking tongue can be released through the funnel, so that even installed devices can be separated again. The funnel

guides the tool used for separation, in the simplest case a standard electric screwdriver, and provides the necessary insulation.

The housing is advantageously cuboid-shaped. This housing shape is particularly suitable for devices that are to be installed in device installation ducts.

For this application, the housing is preferably equipped with devices for fastening the device in the device installation channel.

A particularly suitable embodiment of the invention is multiple sockets.

The invention will be explained in more detail in the form of exemplary embodiments with reference to the drawing.

Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a double socket 10. This has a cuboid-shaped housing 11 with two end faces 12. On the top of the housing 11, two plug sockets 19 can be seen.

A male plug device 13 and a female plug device 14 are provided on the front sides 12. Using these plug devices 13, 14, several devices 10 can be connected in series, creating both a mechanical and an electrical connection.

The mechanical connection is effected by a spring-loaded locking tongue 20, which engages behind a corresponding latch on the other end face 12.

Above the plug-in devices 13,14 a half-funnel 16 can be seen. On the other end there is also a half-funnel 15 (Fig. 3).

Fig. 2 shows the double socket of Fig. 1 as a view of the front side 12.

Fig. 3 shows a top view of a device installation channel 1 in which two double sockets 10.1, 10.2 are inserted. For this purpose, the housings 11 are equipped with devices 17 which lock into the cover retaining profiles 2 of the device installation channel 1.

Between the two devices 10.1, 10.2 you can see the separating funnel, formed by the two half-funnels 16.1, 15.2, which is also easily accessible from the front of the devices 10.1, 10.2 when they are installed. Using a screwdriver inserted into the separating funnel 16.1, 15.2, the two sockets 10.1, 10.2 can be easily separated again after the screwdriver has released the locking tongue 20 under the separating funnel. The sockets 10.1, 10.2 do not have to be removed from channel 1 for this.

Claims (4)

1. Modular electrical installation device ( 10 ), essentially comprising - a housing ( 11 ) made of insulating material with two end faces ( 12 ), - and a male and a female connector ( 13 , 14 ) on the front sides ( 12 ), characterized by the features: - a half-funnel ( 15 , 16 ) is provided on each of the end walls ( 12 ), - when the devices ( 10.1 , 10.2 ) are plugged together, two half-funnels ( 15.2 , 16.1 ) form a funnel, - below the funnel is - on the one hand a spring-loaded locking tongue ( 20 ), - on the other hand, a corresponding bar, - the locking tongue ( 20 ) is accessible through the funnel, - the funnel is accessible from the front of the device, - the dimensions of the funnel are adapted to the dimensions of a standard electric screwdriver. 2. Electrical installation device according to claim 1, characterized by the feature: - the housing ( 11 ) is cuboid-shaped. 3. Electrical installation device according to claim 1 or 2, characterized by the feature: - the housing ( 11 ) is equipped with devices ( 19 ) for fastening the device ( 10 ) in a device installation channel ( 1 ). 4. Electrical installation device according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized by the feature: - the device is a multiple socket.
