Cuboid-shaped cardboard box with two block-like feet

The present invention relates to a cuboid-shaped cardboard box with two block-like feet according to the preamble of claim 1.

Such boxes are used in many applications. The feet can be made of wood or rolled corrugated cardboard. In any case, however, they are made as separate parts and connected to the box by gluing, clamping or the like.

The feet are spaced apart from each other to create a space for the forks of lifting equipment to be inserted from at least two opposite sides, with which the boxes can be transported.

However, both the manufacture and assembly of the feet involves considerable effort, which is particularly disadvantageous considering that such boxes are manufactured and used in large quantities.

In addition, these boxes cannot be folded up into a small size when not in use, so that they take up a relatively large amount of space, which prevents optimized transport of empty containers.

The present invention is therefore based on the object of designing a box of the generic type in such a way that it can be produced easily and inexpensively and can be folded to a minimum, thereby enabling optimized use of the interior space.

This object is achieved by a carton having the features of claim 1.

First of all, it should be noted that such a box is extremely cost-effective and inexpensive to produce, which is made possible in particular by the completely one-piece design, i.e. including the feet. A separate manufacture and attachment of the feet to the box is no longer necessary, which results in significant handling advantages.

In addition, these boxes can be folded so that they are only very thin, meaning that far more boxes can be transported per volume than was previously possible. This results in both cost and logistical advantages, which represent an optimization in terms of the economical use of the boxes.

The multiple folding of the cardboard part assigned to the respective side wall to form a foot results in a high level of stability of this foot, since its side walls, for example when using corrugated cardboard covered on both sides, have standing waves that can absorb high load forces.

The feet folded in this way are fixed in place by means of a tab that can be pushed through openings in two base parts, whereby the base parts

lie on top of each other and the through-openings of the lower one are designed as slots and those of the upper one as recesses. The contour of the latter corresponds to the outer contour of the inserted tabs, so that after being inserted through, they fold over and fit flush into the respective recesses.

In addition, the base parts are connected to the associated side part in the area of a fold line, the length of which corresponds to the clear distance between the two feet and which is set back from the otherwise free edges of the side part so that these free edges form a front cover for the corresponding foot. The setting back also means that the base parts, but above all the parts inside the box, form a smooth surface without interruptions, which makes using the box, i.e. storing goods in or removing them, much easier.

Furthermore, it can be provided that the base parts are provided on their free side opposite the fold line with two durable strips spaced apart from one another, the height and width of which correspond to the cross-sectional dimensions of the respective foot and to which, moreover, movable tongues are connected on the sides facing one another, which can be folded over in such a way that they come into contact with the folded foot and can be glued to the foot there, thereby providing additional fixation of the foot.

Figure 1 shows a blank for a cuboid-shaped cardboard box, as it can be seen as a finished product in Figure 8.

This has two opposing, block-like feet 20 on the bottom side, which are arranged on two opposing side walls 1, 2 and each extend over the entire width of the box and run at a distance from one another, so that an insertion opening 21 is formed into which, for example, the tines of a lifting vehicle can be inserted.

Each foot 20 consists of a multiply folded connecting part 5, 6 which is integral with the associated side wall, the folding lines 10 running parallel and at a distance from one another and parallel to the floor.

While one side of the blank (Figure 1) is delimited by a side part 3, to which a base part 8 is connected by means of a fold line 11, the other side of the blank is delimited by the side wall 1.

Adjacent to this is a second side part 4, on which a base part 7 runs in the area of a bend line 11.

The fold lines 11 correspond in their length to the width of the insertion opening 21. In addition, the base parts 7, 8 are cut free from the associated side parts 3, 4. These cut-outs form closure parts 16, 17 which close the open front sides of the feet 20, i.e., these closure parts 16, 17 correspond in their dimensions approximately to the cross-sectional dimensions of the feet 20.

The connecting parts 5, 6 are designed such that they are folded to form a circumferentially closed shell surface at the feet 20.

Furthermore, tabs 9 are formed in the connecting parts 5, 6, which, after folding the carton, pass through push-through openings in the base parts 7, 8, wherein these push-through openings are formed as recesses 13 in the base part 7 forming the inner base and as slots 12 in the base part 8 forming the outer base.

The recesses 13 correspond in their outer contour and size approximately to those of the tabs 9.

On the sides of the base parts 7, 8 facing away from the associated side parts 3, 4, strips 14 are connected in an articulated manner, which are provided with tongues 15 pivotably attached to the sides facing each other.

Opposite, forming the lid side of the carton, lid parts 18 are provided which, in the embodiment shown in Figure 1, are connected to one another as a foldable or bendable part so that they are folded accordingly to close the carton.

In the example shown in Figure 2, cover parts 19 are provided which can be moved freely relative to one another independently of one another in a manner known per se.

After the side walls 1, 2 and the side parts 3, 4 have been folded and the side wall 1 and side part 3 bordering the blank on the outside have been connected to each other (Figure 3), the bottom of the box is produced.

For this purpose, as shown in Figure 4, the inner base part 7 is first folded in and the associated strips 14 are folded up so that they run parallel to and at a distance from the closure parts 16 adjoining the side part 4.

Figure 5 shows the next step in which the base part 8 forming the outer base is folded inwards and rests on the other base part 7. The associated strips 14 also run upright parallel to the closure parts 16.

Figure 6 shows the representation of the feet 20, whereby it can be seen that for this purpose the connecting parts 5, 6 are folded inwards according to the fold lines 10, with the exception of the respective tab 9. This is guided through the slot 12 of the base part 7, where it lies flush after being folded over and is supported on the base part 8. This ensures that the foot 20 is held firmly in place and also creates a closed surface of the base part 7 forming the inner base.

In Figure 7 it can be seen that the tongues 15 which can be bent relative to the strips 14 are bent inwards, resting against the feet 20 and being connected to them, for example by gluing, so that the feet 20 are fixed in their position and cannot be changed.

Claims (12)

1. Cuboid-shaped cardboard box with two block-like feet ( 20 ) which are arranged on opposite side walls ( 1 , 2 ) of the base, characterized in that each foot ( 20 ) consists of a multiply folded connecting part ( 5 , 6 ) which is integral with the associated side wall ( 1 , 2 ). 2. Carton according to claim 1, characterized in that the width of the connecting part ( 5 ) corresponds approximately to the width of the associated side wall ( 1 , 2 ). 3. Carton according to claim 1, characterized in that each side part ( 3 , 4 ) adjacent to the side wall ( 1 , 2 ) has a base part ( 7 , 8 ) which is connected in an articulated manner to the associated side part ( 3 , 4 ) via a folding line ( 11 ). 4. Carton according to claim 3, characterized in that the length of the fold line ( 11 ) corresponds to the distance between the two feet ( 20 ) and that closure parts ( 16 ) are arranged laterally of the fold line ( 11 ) on the side parts ( 3 , 4 ), which are cut free from the base part ( 7 , 8 ) and whose height, relative to the fold line ( 11 ), corresponds to the height of the feet ( 20 ), wherein the base parts ( 7 , 8 ) correspond in their width to the width of the connected side parts ( 3 , 4 ). 5. Carton according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that strips ( 14 ) arranged at a distance from one another are provided on the side of the base part ( 7 , 8 ) opposite the side part ( 3 , 4 ). 6. Carton according to claim 5, characterized in that tongues ( 15 ) are hinged to the strips ( 14 ) on the sides facing each other and are freely movable relative to the base part ( 7 , 8 ). 7. Carton according to claim 5, characterized in that the strips ( 14 ) correspond in their width and height to the closure parts ( 16 , 17 ). 8. Carton according to claim 1, characterized in that each connecting part ( 5 , 6 ) has a tab ( 9 ) which is guided through through openings in the base parts ( 7 , 8 ). 9. Carton according to claim 8, characterized in that the through-openings of the base part ( 8 ) forming the underside are designed as slots ( 12 ). 10. Carton according to claim 8, characterized in that the through-openings of the base part ( 7 ) forming the inner side are designed as recesses ( 13 ) which correspond in their contour and dimensions to those of the tabs ( 9 ). 11. Carton according to claim 9, characterized in that the tabs ( 9 ) lie flush in the recesses ( 13 ). 12. Carton according to claim 6, characterized in that the tongues ( 15 ) are attached to the feet ( 20 ).
