Utility model application "Rescue tent"

It still happens far too often that mountaineers or hikers in the mountains are surprised by a change in the weather and are unable to protect themselves safely.

The rescue tent I developed could be life-saving if it became part of the standard equipment of mountaineers or hikers.

Due to the low weight of approx. 300 grams, the increase in weight of the marching gear is insignificant.

It is also possible to transport large numbers of rescue tents by plane to disaster areas,

to create emergency shelters in the shortest possible time. After all, 10,000 tents weigh only 3.0 tons.

Description:

The rescue tent is intended for one-time use in the event of a life-threatening situation. Once erected, it cannot be returned to its original state. It is designed for one person. The floor area is 666 x 2000 mm. The height is approximately 570 mm.

The entrance and exit is located at the ridge (i.e. at the top) and is closed or opened from the inside or outside by a zipper along the entire length, i.e. 2000 mm.

The material consists of very thin plastic film that is aluminum coated on one side.

For ventilation, the foil at the gable peaks has been replaced by gauze.

At one end there are two loops for securing in case of storms before erection.

The erection takes place using compressed air or CO2 from a special cartridge within a few seconds and is triggered by a rip cord (weight not included).

In the event of a disaster, this is done by helpers at central filling stations. It is of course also possible to inflate the tent manually.

The metal coating serves as additional heat protection similar to thermal blankets, as a Faraday cage in the event of a lightning strike and makes it easier for search teams to find people in the mountains, etc.

The foils are welded in such a way that, apart from the gable walls, all surfaces form adjacent tubes after construction.

The special feature, however, is that if individual tubes are destroyed, all intact tubes retain their air pressure.

The foils are welded in such a way that each tube closes itself after filling. This is achieved by foil valves that securely close each individual air tube. They are welded in when the foils are welded and consist of two foil strips on top of each other that are welded together at the edges.

They protrude into each tube of the tent as a small tube that opens when filled.

When the tube is filled with air, the hose closes and acts as an absolutely closing valve.

Even after several days, there is no drop in pressure.

The stability of the tent is only threatened if a large proportion of the tubes are destroyed.

This is the only reason why it is possible to use such thin material while maintaining a high level of safety.

1. Apart from the gable walls, all sides of the rescue tent consist of tubes that are connected lengthwise and are filled with air or CO2 from a central location. After filling, the individual tubes are closed by welded-in valves. The destruction of individual tubes in the tent does not significantly reduce stability.
This means that very thin material can be used so that the tent weight (without compressed air bottle) does not exceed approx. 300 grams. 2. A metal-coated plastic film is used for the tent, which makes it much easier to locate the tent from the air and acts as a Faraday cage in the event of a lightning strike. It also increases thermal protection.
