Description

The invention relates to a means of orientation aid for a pilot to make it easier to recognize routes, consisting of an adhesive and sticky tape.

The field of application of the invention is aviation or seafaring, at least an area where navigation is primarily done "by sight" (not by instruments). The problem underlying the invention is that - in the case of aviation - aeronautical charts, as used by pilots, usually in small-engine aircraft, contain a large amount of geographical and aviation safety-related information that makes the charts confusing. The pilot usually draws "his flight route" on this aeronautical chart and orientates himself during his flight on the route he has drawn, to which he usually also writes other flight-relevant data such as flight altitudes, etc. After a short time, this means that the aeronautical charts, which are on the market in a standard scale of 1:500,000 and are already rather confusing and contain little information, become even more confusing due to the large number of flight routes drawn. After a short time, the flight charts or aeronautical charts, but also nautical charts, which are the basis for the pilot's orientation, are no longer usable because the large number of flight/routes and information marked on them make the map illegible.

The same applies to seafaring. The pilot in the sense of the invention is the person in charge of the aircraft or ship/boat.

The invention therefore has the task of providing a means that enables the pilot to display relevant information on a

geographical map without destroying the map or rendering it unusable in the long term.

This object is achieved according to the invention by the features of claim 1. According to the invention, an adhesive or cling tape is applied to the geographical map, e.g. an aviation map or a nautical chart, which tape is provided on one side with an adhesive which, however, does not permanently bond the adhesive or cling tape to the map, but can be removed from the map again without leaving any residue. Such transparent, one-sided adhesive or cling tapes are generally known, but in the form commonly available (e.g. Scotch® adhesive tape, 3M Deutschland GmbH) they are of no help to the pilot, as these tapes can only be written on. The flight route or sea route cannot be drawn in or requires a great deal of effort and care. The invention therefore provides that a non-transparent marking, e.g. a line in solid, dashed or dotted form, is permanently connected to the adhesive tape in the longitudinal direction of the adhesive or cling tape, e.g. by means of a adhesive tape. B. is created during the production process of the tape as a colorful, eye-catching distinguishing feature.

The present invention has the advantage that the visible line on the adhesive or sticky tape makes a ruler superfluous. Pilots usually head for a destination using the shortest route, namely the "airline". To do this, a ruler is placed on the well-known aviation maps or nautical charts and the locations (departure location and destination airport) are connected in a straight line. The adhesive or sticky tape according to the invention, on the other hand, is stretched from the departure location to the destination airport or a coupling point in the landscape and thus stuck in a straight line; this is also possible across several maps for longer flight routes. With the commonly used "ruler method", in which the start and destination locations are connected with a ruler, this can lead to problems and deviations, as the rulers can easily slip and may be drawn across several maps.

A line would have to be drawn away. This saves a lot of time and provides greater accuracy when the map is received as such.

A further advantage is that the part of the adhesive tape that is transparent and can be written on, but is not marked with the non-transparent marking, can be used for other important information such as headings, radio frequencies, crosspoints, flight times, various wind components, lead angles, flight altitudes in airspace, mandatory reporting points, etc.

Another important advantage is that sudden flight and course corrections can be easily made in the event of, for example, a change in the weather or other sudden emergencies during the flight. The old course can be easily removed by peeling off the adhesive tape and a new course can be quickly stuck onto the aeronautical chart and labeled with information that the pilot receives via radio. After the flight, the "flight line" can be removed without leaving any residue, so that the aeronautical chart remains intact and can continue to be used.

The adhesive tape according to the invention can be used not only on aviation maps, but also on nautical charts. Basically, all geographical maps are preferred, but transport options by water and air are a preferred area of application. For this purpose, the invention provides that the orientation aid is designed to be waterproof or water-repellent. It is of course also conceivable to apply an additional waterproof or water-repellent protective layer.

The only figure 1 shows an adhesive and sticky tape 10 which is transparent. A conspicuous line 12 which is non-transparent is drawn on the adhesive tape in the middle of the length of the adhesive tape. The adhesive tape is preferably made as an endless tape, which is indicated schematically in the drawing. The transparent part 11 of the adhesive or sticky tape 10 is large enough to be labelled on.

The adhesive tape 10 is provided on its underside - not shown - with a conventional adhesive or bonding agent, which, however, has the property of only sticking to such an extent that it can be removed from the substrate without leaving any residue.

The adhesive tape 10 is designed in such a way that it can be torn off at any point as required, i.e. it can be separated or torn off in any position without the aid of scissors, rulers or other aids.

Claims (8)

1. Means of orientation aid for a pilot to make it easier to mark routes, consisting of an adhesive and cling tape, characterized in that this adhesive tape ( 10 ) is transparent and can be applied to geographical maps, wherein the same is provided on one side with an adhesive or bonding agent such that it can be removed from the map again without residue, and wherein the adhesive or cling tape ( 10 ) is provided with a non-transparent marking ( 12 ) along its longitudinal direction ( 13 ). 2. Orientation aid according to claim 1, characterized in that the non-transparent marking ( 12 ) is a solid and/or dashed and/or dotted line. 3. Orientation aid according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the marking is arranged centrally on the adhesive or adhesive tape ( 10 ). 4. Orientation aid according to claim 1, characterized in that the adhesive or adhesive tape ( 10 ) is an endless tape. 5. Orientation aid according to at least one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the adhesive or adhesive tape ( 10 ) can be written on on the non-adhesive side on the transparent part ( 11 ). 6. Orientation aid according to at least one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the half-adhesive or adhesive tape ( 10 ) is manufactured so as to be tearable without the aid of further means. 7. Orientation aid according to claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the geographical maps are aeronautical charts or nautical charts. 8. Orientation aid according to claims 1 to 7, characterized in that it is designed to be waterproof/water-repellent.
