The invention relates to a second strand of hair as an extension element.

There is sometimes a desire to lengthen the hair on the head. For this purpose, hair extensions can be connected to the natural hair. The connecting areas between the natural hair and the hair extensions can be placed within the natural hair in such a way that the connecting points are not immediately visible when looking at the hair from the outside.

The invention deals with the problem of making such hair extensions with second hair strands as simple and durable as possible.

For this purpose, a strand of hair formed according to the characterizing feature of claim 1 is proposed for such a hair extension.

one of which concerns a hair strand connection that is particularly advantageous for hair extension.

The invention is based on the general idea of preparing second hair strands for extension in such a way that they can be permanently and firmly connected in a simple manner to a strand of hair to be extended, which is in particular a strand of the person's own hair on the head. Permanently firm means that hair with such connecting areas can be washed and combed without the connecting area being functionally impaired. The sleeve used for the connection encloses the connected hairs in such a form-fitting and force-fitting manner that practically no liquids from the outside can penetrate into the bonding area and disrupt the connection. The sleeve also offers the advantage that the connection between the hair strands can be carried out cleanly using a hot melt adhesive that melts under heat, since the bonding areas are protected from contact with the outside by the sleeve. The sleeve is expediently made of a material that shrinks under heat and can be either transparent or colored in the color of the hair.

The second hair strand 1 shown in Fig. 1 is prepared for attachment to a strand of the hair’s own 2.

The preparation consists in binding the second hair strand 1 into a sleeve 3 made of material that can be plasticized under heat by means of a bead of hot melt adhesive 4. The hot melt adhesive bead contains an excess of hot melt adhesive 4 so that this excess can penetrate into the hair of the natural hair strand 2 that is to be bound at some point. The bead of hot melt adhesive 4 only fixes the second hair strand 1 in a peripheral area of the inner wall of the sleeve 3 so that a sufficiently large free inner cross section remains within the sleeve 3 into which the natural hair strand 2 can be inserted. The natural hair strand 2 is inserted into the interior of the sleeve 3 using a hook needle 5. This hook needle 5 is inserted from the end of the sleeve 3 from which the second hair strand 1 protrudes. The natural hair strand 2 is grasped with the gripping end 6 of the hook needle 5 and pulled into the interior of the sleeve 3.

drawn in such a way that the natural hair strand 2 lies parallel to the secondary hair strand 1 within the sleeve 3.

In this state, which is shown in Fig. 2, the plastic deformation of the sleeve 3 begins. A preferably electrically operated hot tongs 7 are used as a tool for producing the plastic deformation. In a first step, the area of the sleeve 3 surrounding the free end of the person's own hair 2 is plastically deformed using these hot tongs 7, i.e. shrunk onto the hair strands. If the second hair strand 1 is tied to a strand of the person's own hair 2 on the head, this end is usually at the bottom during the connection process. If the lower end of the sleeve 3 is shrunk onto the hair strands 1, 2 in a form-fitting and force-fitting manner in this case, the zone of the sleeve 3 in which the hot melt adhesive 4 is located can then be deformed. By closing the sleeve 3 at the bottom, melted hot melt adhesive 4 cannot escape downwards from the sleeve 3 due to the heat emanating from the hot tongs 7. In a further step, which can also be carried out before the sleeve 3 is deformed in the hot melt adhesive zone, the sleeve 3 is also shrunk onto the hair strands 1, 2 at the end that has not yet been deformed. The connection is then complete.

Hot tongs can of course also be used, which cover the entire length of the sleeve 3 and are constructed in such a way that with the same tongs, individual length regions of the sleeve 3 can be heated in a predeterminable sequence by means of individual segments provided in the same and thus shrunk in the manner according to the invention.

While in the above example a strand of natural hair 2 has been connected to a strand of secondary hair 1, secondary hair strands 1 can of course also be connected to one another in the manner according to the invention to produce a particularly long strand.

Instead of using a bead of hot melt adhesive to attach the strand 1 that is to be attached first in the sleeve 3, the strand 1 can also be molded into a sleeve 3 made of material that can be connected to the strand. In this case, the strand 2 that is to be connected can also be frictionally integrated into a suitable material of the sleeve 3. Such a design is still within the scope of the connecting device and technology according to the invention.

A great economic advantage of the solution according to the invention is that hair replacement strands can be prepared to a large extent in the factory for easy attachment to real hair strands. The strands can then be connected in an extremely clean manner using a hook needle and a plasticizing agent.

Even a layperson can easily become familiar with the connection technique, and this ensures that a truly secure connection is always made, which cannot be destroyed by the usual external influences such as washing the hair.

Claims (7)

1. Second strand of hair as a hair extension element, characterized in that the second strand of hair ( 1 ) is attached at least at one of its ends to the inner wall of a plastically deformable sleeve ( 3 ) and covers only a partial area of the free inner cross section of the sleeve there. 2. Second strand of hair according to claim 1, characterized in that the second strand of hair ( 1 ) is attached to the sleeve ( 3 ) by means of hot melt adhesive ( 4 ). 3. Second strand of hair according to claim 2, characterized in that the hot melt adhesive ( 4 ) is present within the sleeve ( 3 ) in the form of an adhesive bead enclosing the second strand of hair ( 1 ). 4. Second strand of hair according to claim 3, characterized in that the adhesive bead occupies only a limited space between the ends of the sleeve ( 3 ). 5. Second strand of hair according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the sleeve ( 3 ) consists of material which shrinks when exposed to heat. 6. Second strand of hair according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the sleeve ( 3 ) is transparent. 7. Connection of two strands of hair, in particular a strand of one's own hair with a second strand of hair, in which the at least one second strand of hair is designed according to the features of at least one of claims 1 to 6, characterized by the features - the connection is inside the sleeve ( 3 ), - within the sleeve ( 3 ), the free end of a strand of hair to be connected to the second strand of hair ( 1 ) is inserted into the free cross-sectional area of the sleeve not filled by the second strand of hair ( 1 ) glued into the sleeve ( 3 ), - the hot melt adhesive ( 4 ) penetrates the strands of hair ( 1 , 2 ) lying next to each other within the sleeve ( 3 ), - the sleeve ( 3 ) encloses the hair strands ( 1 , 2 ) adjacent to one another in the sleeve ( 3 ) in a volume-shrinked form in a force-fitting and form-fitting manner.
